He dropped his hands I ducked and turned around and ran.

"Where are you going?" He yelled.

"Away from a jerk." I yelled back.

I heard a thud and thought about looking back but I didn't.

I pulled out my phone and made a call.

Sam: Hello?

Me: Sam, oh so good to hear your voice.

Sam: Why?

Me: Bring your car to the corner of Pine and Elementary.

Sam: Alright, see you then.

He hung up and so did I. I found a spot and hid.

I heard a car drive up. It was Sam. I hopped in the passenger and yelled "Drive."

He started driving "Well what's got you all tense?"

"Logan."

"What did he do?'

I looked at him and realize that it wasn't  good time. "oh um..he got on my nerves"

"Mia, when you hesitate I can tell either you don't know or don't wanna say."

"What's that suppose to mean?"

"Just a warning."

"I don't need warnings...I need a sign." His last words were in my head about hesitating.

"Oh and what sign would you be talking about?"

He caught me off guard. "Oh you know life symbols like hope, trust, and likeableness."

I could tell he was blushing "Have you come in contact with one of those yet?"

I stared out my window.

"Mia, listen, look, and feel for life is a gift," He drove past our neighborhood as I pondered on what he just said.

Something snapped me back to reality. Sam's arm was right beside mine. "Where are we?"

"Oh somewhere." He turned on the radio and Chestnuts Roasting began.

Then he stopped the car in the middle of a forest and got out leaving the music on and opened up my door.

I sat there while he went to the front of the car. He began singing and  dancing.

I giggled "What are you doing?"

"Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.."

Wow, he danced around the car to my door and tapped my nose.

"Jack Frost nipping at your nose..."

He danced back to the front.

"Wow..how did you know that they would be playing...."

He cut me off "Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,.."

He opened his door and got on his knees facing me.

"Sam, you are going to get hurt."

He wrapped his arms around me still singing.

"And folks dressed up like Eskimos..."

He let go. "Wow am I your Eskimo?"

He snuck a paper in my pocket.

"Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe.."

He kissed my cheek.

He turned on a light.

"Help to make the season bright.."

I covered my mouth with my hands in awe.

He reached for my chin and I stared into his eyes feeling like we were the only two people in the world.

"Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow..."

He layed his head on his hands.

"Will find it hard to sleep tonight.."

He stood up and got out of the car.

"They know that Santa's on his way."

He smiled at me.

"He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh..."

He headed toward the front.

"And every mother's child is going to spy.."

He put his hand down on the hood moving it as if it was going up steps.

"To see reindeer really know how to fly.."

He got back down on his knees on his seat.

He grabbed my hands warming them with his. "And so I'm offering this simple phrase, to kids from one to ninety two,.."

He smiled showing his pearly white teeth.

"Although it's been said many times, many ways,..."

He released his hands and layed his head staring up at me.

I looked down on him as he pulled my chin closer.

"Sam?"

"Merry Christmas, ...Merry Christmas...to...you."

Our lips touched until the next song started.

As soon as we separated, he got up.

He got out of the car went over to side, grabbed my wrists, and dragged me to the front of the car and he held of a finger meaning one second.

When he returned, he spread a  blanket  on the hood and we got up, layed against the windshield, looking up at the sky. I in jeans, a white tank top, a red plaid button down shirt open, and white Chuck Taylors with my hair straightened. Sam in his long sleeve button down white polo, sleeves rolled up to his elbows, navy dressy jeans,  black Vans, and his messy brown hair.

He talked the different shapes clouds made.

"This one looks like a bunny." I giggled.

"This one looks like a girl and a guy under the stars.." He chimed.

"Wow" he said in unison awe.

..After a while...

We got up and threw the blanket in the trunk and got in the car. He closed his door as I did mine and turned on the car and we drove away.

We sat there in silence the rest of the way.

...

When we got to his driveway, He stopped the car but before we could get out I whispered in his ear "Thanks."

I ran across the yard to my place and locked myself in my room.
