"I envy you."
Ellie frowned at me as we both walked on the school hallway. It's Monday morning. I am feeling a bit fresh while my best friend, on the other hand, is sulking.
"Yah, I thought you're trying to be okay? Look at me," I stopped and held both of her shoulders. "This Ellie Hwang," I gestured to all of her, "this is not the Ellie I've known before. She's brave, optimistic, and cheerful even though she has problems. I've seen her surpass a lot of difficult distresses than this."
She heaved a sigh and nodded. "Arasseo. Thanks, Win."
"There are no things that are free these days. Thank you is not enough, so why won't you treat me some food, eh?" I said as I hung my right arm around her neck, while I ruffled her hair with my other hand. She swatted it with a grunt.
"Aish! Why did you do that?! You're gonna destroy my curls!"
We were on the way to our classroom when a large commotion happened a few feet away from us.
"Winter-ah, let's look at that too." Ellie pulled my arm while pointing to the crowd.
I shook my head. "Aniya, there's too many people. Let's not meddle with their business. Our classmates will be talking about it later anyways. Just join them, oh?"
I don't know why, but I feel nervous. I tried to shove it away and calm myself.
Nothing is going to happen, Winter. Don't stress yourself out.
"Okay. It's almost time for classes too," Ellie said as I nodded, breathing deeply.
We were about to pass through when suddenly, I stepped on a reddish paper. It was white actually, but it was splashed with red paint (I think) that it looked like it was blood.
I picked the paper up and read what it says.
"Winter, are you okay? What is that?"
I hear Ellie's voice but my conscience isn't with me right now. I feel my head becoming numb. I looked at Ellie slowly, "Ellie, this is not happening again, right?"
I handed her the paper, my arms shaking on the process. Ellie hastily snatched the paper from me, and I see shock spread on her face as she read what's written on that paper.
Winter Jeon... this is your first warning. Don't ever think of getting a second or third, okay? 'Cause the next time you talk to Ten Chittaphon... you're going to get hurt.
You don't want your loved ones to get hurt too, right? Back off, you slut!
She looked at me and held my hand. "Don't worry, Winter. Let's skip classes for today, oh?"
Ellie crumpled the paper and threw it. She pulled my arm to drag me and run away. Good thing nobody saw us.
"E-Ellie..." I mumbled. I feel lightheaded while we were running away from school. I tried to call her a few more times but I guess she couldn't hear me.
"Elle..." I tried to reach for her other arm, but the next thing I knew, everything went black.

It was a cold afternoon in the school's field. It's winter, (just like my name) and I watched the kids run around and play with snow.
"Win!" I heard someone shouted my name. I think I know who he is.
