Nathan's POV

Jay kissed my cheek and I felt everyone's eyes staring at us. My face burned red hot and I looked around, meeting surprised eyes.

"Umm..." Jay started, but he didn't finish the thought.

"Oh my gosh you guys are totally dating! Are you?" Nareesha asked, her mouth running a hundred miles an hour. I blushed even harder and averted her gaze. "Oh my gosh you are! Oh my gosh Kelsey I totally knew it I told you look aww they're so cute look look look!"

"Oh my god oh my god!" Kelsey screeched and the girls hugged each other, screaming.

"That's cool that you're...gay," Max said at last. "I don't have a problem with it. I think you guys are great for each other."

"Yeah. I admire that you're so open with your sexuality in a judging society," Siva added.

"Thanks guys, it means a lot," I replied, smiling a little. "But what will people around here think?"

"It doesn't matter what others think so long as you two are happy. Are you?" Tom responded. I nodded. "Then screw everyone else! You have a right to be happy."

"Thanks Tom," Jay said, smiling wide. He pulled me closer to his side and I leaned my head on his shoulder, closing my eyes with content.

"Awwww!" Nareesha remarked. "You boys are so cute!" She pulled out her phone and snapped a picture.

"Hey!" I exclaimed, reaching for it. "Delete that!"

"But it's cute!" she argued, holding her phone up high. I reached for it and she stood up, running around the cafeteria chanting "nope nope nope nope nope."

I sighed and Jay squeezed my shoulder. I looked up at him and his blue eyes were so close to my hazel ones. He glanced down at my lips and back up at me. I closed my eyes and the gap between us disappeared.

He smiled against my lips and tilted his head to get a better angle. He started pulling back but I didn't want to lose his warmth so soon. I grabbed his curls and pulled him back down to me.

Whistles and catcalls brought me back to reality. I let go of him and we pulled apart. Max and Tom were laughing and Siva looked very awkward and out of the place. Kelsey and Nareesha were practically screaming and so were a couple other girls who had seen us. I rolled my eyes, but I was still smiling.

I was sat at the piano in Jay's house, fooling around with chords and melodies. My phone buzzed and I checked it. There was a new message from Jess.

"The whole school is talking about the new gay couple. Congrats Nath, I love you x"

I smiled and typed out a response. "Thanks Jess. Miss you x"

Jay and Seev were discussing lyrics at a table.

"This is great," Siva was saying. "But I would change all the masculine pronouns to feminine ones for social acceptance."

Jay nodded, his curls bouncing adorably. "Okay, yeah. That works." He erased some things and scribbled over them.

"Can I see?" I asked, holding out my hand. Jay blushed and handed me the paper.

I read it aloud. "She takes my breath away, she's got me calling every day. I can't seem to get enough. Could this be love?" I read through the whole song, stopping when people had suggestions. After everybody was happy with it, I handed it back to Jay.

"Amazing, babe," I told him. His cheeks flushed a rosy pink and he smiled an adorable little smile.

"Do you have a tune in mind?" Max asked. "I've got one."

"Let's hear it," Tom agreed.

Max sang a little bit of a tune with the words. I figured out the key he was in and started playing chords along with him.

Tom joined in on his guitar, adding another layer. Siva started singing harmonies, and I added a few runs and echoes. Jay backed Max up with lower harmonies.

When we finished, Kelsey and Nareesha started clapping.

"Nice first run-through," Kelsey complimented. "Your voices sound great together for never singing as a group before."

"Thanks, Kels," Tom replied, walking towards her and kissing her passionately. She giggled and kissed him again.

"Get a room," Jay called.

"Says the boy who kissed his boyfriend in front of the whole school," Kelsey retorted.

I rolled my eyes but Jay kissed my nose. "Don't worry, it doesn't matter," he told me.

"I know," I replied, smiling. He grinned and kissed me again.

We sang the rough draft of the song again and recorded it to listen to next session. Then everyone left and it was just me and Jay.

"Finally," he said, cleaning up the mess of crisps and crumbs on the couch.

"Why so excited that they left?" I asked.

"I had to restrain from doing this." Jay slammed his lips against mine with such force that I almost fell. He caught me with his arms and I straightened myself, putting my hands on his waist.

He pulled back for a second and mumbled against my lips, "You're wonderful," before kissing me again. I stood on my tip toes to be the same height as him and kissed him back with just as much force. I hooked my fingers through his belt loops and pulled him closer to me.

Then the doorbell rang.
