Part Seven.

“Oh my God,” Allie muttered under her breath, her hands flying to clutch at her forehead as she began pacing back and forth in front of a set of tall iron bars.

“Allie, it’s fine.” Chaz stated calmly. “Don’t worry about us.”

“You guys are standing in a resort jail!” Allie shrieked hysterically, turning to face the two boys standing glumly on the other side of the bars. “You can’t tell me not to worry, this is all my fault! The only reason you’re like this is because-”

“We were sticking up for you!” Chaz interrupted her. “That fucking son of a bitch was beating you, Allie, what did you expect us to do?”

Allie just groaned miserably in response, burying her face in her hands. “You shouldn’t be in there.” She moaned. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”

“No, we shouldn’t be.” Chaz stated calmly, although his voice contained the faintest hints of irritation. “But that prick police officer decided to be an asshole and throw us in jail without even giving us a chance to explain.” He shook his head with disgust, setting his jaw and curling his hands into fists. “Fucking dick-”

“Chaz,” Ryan stated, speaking for the first time since arriving at the resort jail with Allie and Jasmine.

“What?” Chaz snapped irritably, glaring through the bars at Ryan.

Ryan merely gave him a meaningful look, clearly passing on some kind of silent message to him.

In response, Chaz let out a long sigh before nodding his head.

“I’m really sorry, Chaz.” Allie said quietly, staring at him sadly. “I didn’t mean for this to happen.”

“Allie, don’t apologize.” Justin stated, speaking for the first time and causing everyone to turn and stare at him. Instead of returning their gazes, however, he kept his stare firmly focused on Allie. “This isn’t your fault.”

“Yes, it is.” She said quietly.

Without answering her question, Justin looked up suddenly, his expression alert as he surveyed the other people surrounding him. “Guys,” He began, addressing Jasmine and Ryan. “Do you mind giving me and Allie a moment?”

Jasmine and Ryan shook their heads.

“No.” Ryan murmured.

“We’ll go wait in the other room.” Jasmine added quietly.

Justin shot them a smile in thanks as they turned to leave before turning himself and giving Chaz a look.

Chaz threw his hands up, an incredulous expression on his face. “How do you expect me to leave? In case you haven’t noticed, bro, we’re stuck in the same jail cell!” He rattled the bars of the cell as if for effect.

“Yeah, I got that.” Justin stated dryly. “I just mean...could you...go over there or something?” He gestured towards a corner of the cell.

Chaz let out a dramatic sigh before turning and grudgingly trudging across the length of the floor towards where Justin had indicated.

Justin watched him go for a moment before turning back to face Allie. He silently motioned for her to join him, which she did.

Once she’d reached the iron bars separating them, he reached a hand through the gap and grabbed ahold of one of her own hands, lacing his fingers through hers and pulling her even closer to him.
