"Celine you need to work faster darling." My manager Bianca hurled over the noise that was making my head pound with a throbbing headache.
I am Celine Eleanor Sanchez. A freshman at the NYU. Major in business administration. My mom died giving birth to me. I never saw her. Never knew who she was.
My dad, a successful business tycon. Mostly busy with either his business trips or his third wife Lynn.
He married my mom when he was in college and they met in their first lesson together. And then that same cliche story of them falling in love and ending up in the havoc of marriage.
I was his first and only child from my mom and she died when I was born.
Then my dad married his second wife, an old friend from that same college. She died from cancer when I was five. She wasn't my mother but she had taken good care of me before she left me to be brought up lacking a mother-figure growing up.
And now there's Lynn. She is thirty years of age while my dad is fifty five. My dad has money, expensive cars and almost everything a young woman would want. Or more specifically Lynn would want. That's why she's still sticking to my dad's side. She's getting everything she wants because I'm out of her way.
I work at this boutique to earn a living. And I'm proud of what I am today. I'm glad to be independent of my father's wealth.
He didn't have much time for his only daughter anyway. I was never his little baby girl. And not a spoilt brat either.
I spent my childhood mostly without him because of his business trips and in care of a nany. We were almost never close. He used to love spending time with me every once in a while when I was younger. Now even that contact had become a rare occurrence.
I got a scholarship from NYU six months ago. And I don't remember when had I been this happy as I was on that day. I am studying free of cost and I live in an apartment just five minutes walking distance from NYU. I pay the rent from this job at this boutique and it's fair enough.
I'm saving money so that I can buy this apartment. And I'm happy as long as I'm doing all of this on my own. Without the help of a rich father.
I've never starved. I can buy clothes that I like. And every other thing that I need. My earnings are more than enough for me. I never was that keen to waste money on unnecessary things.
No parents, siblings or relatives. You must be thinking I might sometimes feel lonely. But I don't. With this busy routine and the daily grind of college is enough to take my mind off of the lonliness. I do have Avril.
She's been with me since we started college. And I think we're eventually becoming best friends. I believe she's one of those people who don't just stick to your side for time pass. She's actually there for me when I need her.
"It's almost done B." I called out to my manager. I finished putting tags on the boxes and sorted them according to the arrival date.
I made my way to the front of the boutique where Bianca was dealing with a customer.
Just then, the sound of the bell signalled the arrival of a new customer. I looked up at a beautiful girl around my age smiling at me.
"Celine at your service. How may I help you?"
She smiled kindly and took a deep breath.
"I'm here to buy a wedding dress."
Her face flushed pink after she told me and I nodded with a professional snile.
"Just the perfect place madam. Let me show you some out-of-this-world wedding gowns."
•••••••••••••
"This one......so beautiful." She twirled around in the sheer white gown which bellowed about her like a white waterfall.
"What do you think?" She asked me and I shrugged.
