They were inside the bus on their way to the next stop of the tour and she was hanging out watching a movie with her boyfriend for 2 years, Michael, in his bunk cuddling but everything turned around when she saw who he was texting.
"I'm done." She mumbled, getting up and grabbing her backpack that was hanging on the side of the bunk. Michael looked up from his phone. "What?"
"I'm done and I'm leaving." She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. She took a jacket from the bag and crawled over Michael to get out of the bunk.
"No, you're not." Michael sat up and grabbed her wrist to stop her. "What's the problem?"
'You're flirting with some bimbo on your phone, that's the fucking problem.'
She wanted to tell him that but she knew better not to make a scene in a bus filled with people.
"I'm getting off this bus." She told him firmly and his eyebrows furrowed.
"What the fuck are you saying Kat?" His grip around her wrist tightened and she winced.
"I can't do this anymore. It's over."
Michael snatched her phone from her hand and walked off. She went out of the bunk and walked to the game room where Michael disappeared into, the room at the end of the bus. She pounded on the small door.
"Give me back my phone Michael!" She yelled angrily. She could hear the boys talking from the other side of the door. "I'm gonna break this down." She gave the door a kick, to show them that she'd really do it.
"Hey," Ashton peeked his head out.
"Open the goddamn door Ash." She glared at him and he cleared his throat, coming out of the room but preventing her from getting in.
"I just want my phone back." She knew the tough act was about to end and that she's gonna end up breaking down, she didn't want anyone to see her like that.
"Can you calm down and talk to me at least?" He asked.
"We are over. There's nothing to talk about."
The door opened and Michael stepped out but stayed quiet.
"Just get me my phone Ash." She crossed her arms and looked away, biting on her lip to stop it from shaking.
"Michael said you're gonna leave if he gives it back." Ashton frowned. "Talk it out."
"Tell him to fuck off. I don't wanna talk."
Ashton sighed, he patted Michael on the shoulder before going back inside the room.
"You can shove it down your throat for all I care, I'm still leaving." She turned around and started walking.
"Stop acting like a child." She heard him say and her blood started boiling.
"A child wouldn't have stayed with someone who's falling out of love with her, Michael." She chuckled bitterly. "Isn't this better? You're single. You can go from one girl to another every night, you won't have to try so hard to not get figured out."
She faced him, tears streaming down her face. "I was hoping you'd stop when you realize that you've been hurting me. I thought that if I let you do what you want somehow you'd stop doing it because you care about me." She wiped her tears. "Why didn't you just break it off with me, we could've avoided all this trouble."
He stared at her not knowing what to say.
"What? Now you have nothing to say?" She spat.
"I'm sorry." He said running a hand through his red hair. He placed her phone down on the counter.
"Why didn't you break up with me?" She asked the boy in front of her who was now crying in his hand.
"Because I love you." His voice cracked when he sobbed.
"You wouldn't have cheated on me if you did love me." She looked away. She was angry at him but she hated seeing him cry.
"I can't keep up the act like there's nothing wrong between us. So if you need me- if you want me to stay" she paused. "If you still feel a thing for me, tell me. Do you love me still?" She sobbed.
"If you don't know then just let me go, Michael."
He didn't say anything, nothing.
She swallowed the lump that formed in her throat. "That's what I thought." She laughed bitterly and grabbed her phone. She turned around but was stopped when a hand grabbed her arm.
"Katrina, I'm sorry." He said falling on his knees, holding onto her. She shook her head and peeled his arms off of her.
No more second chances. I tried.
"No, you're not sorry Mikey. If you ever felt sorry for me you wouldn't have done it."
She walked away and took her bag with her. She got off the bus the moment the bus stopped and didn't even dare to look back. Once the bus had driven off she fell to the ground crying.
A week after she and Michael broke up she started receiving tweets from fans, some asking what happened, some curious if the two really ended it, some fans were thankful they had broken up. She wasn't sure how the word got out but somehow she felt like they had the right to know, not about what truly happened but a confirmation.
@poisonedmalum: It's true. We broke up and we want the reason to stay between us. Please respect this.
She held her phone tight in her hands.
It was a year ago when Michael went public about his relationship with her and now she was confirming that it was all over, the same way he told everyone about it - on Twitter.
She was hurting. She didn't even want to end it with him but she didn't want to hold on to something that had already let go.
He let her go because he didn't love her anymore.
She let him go because she loved him, so much, too much.
