Lucas Digne

For MaleenMalik:

Maleen sighed as she double checked that everything was being placed in their new home where its designated area was. She started to unpack everything when her husband Lucas Digne walked into the home, some papers in his hand. "I'm all set at Camp Nou," he said before making his way over to Maleen. "I make my debut in three weeks," he announced, pressing a kiss to Maleen's head.

"That sounds great!" Maleen smiled, hugging her husband tightly. "I'm so proud of you, you know," she said.

"I know," Lucas replied, hugging her back. After a bit of a turbulent past few years at PSG and Roma, Lucas knew that Maleen was happy that they were in a permanent location for at least a year.

"So when do you start training?"

"Tomorrow," Lucas sighed, "I'm sorry I can't help you unpack everything."

"Don't feel bad, Lucas, just help me out while you can," Maleen stated, handing Lucas a few dishes, "Like putting these on the top shelf cause I can't reach it." Lucas chuckled at his wife before taking the dishes and putting them up on the top shelf like she had asked. The three weeks seemed to fly by for Maleen and Lucas. Lucas would be making his debut today and both he and Maleen were extremely excited for the match.

Lucas had to leave earlier than Maleen and after a small breakfast, he gave her a quick kiss before running out to his car and heading towards the Camp Nou. Maleen smiled before cleaning the dishes and putting them away. Walking upstairs, she quickly showered and pulled on the new Digne jersey Lucas had given her to wear to the matches.

It was still warm in Spain at this time in the year, and Maleen found herself hoping that the humidity died down a bit before the match started for Lucas. Driving to the Camp Nou, Maleen flashed the guards her WAG pass that Lucas had given her and walked towards the family box section. Introducing herself to a few of the WAGs there, Maleen made small conversation with them before turning her attention to the pitch.

She could see Lucas warming up with the rest of the Barcelona defense before they exited the field and ran to get ready for the start of the match. Maleen couldn't wait to see Lucas emerge from the tunnel, a new and crisp Barcelona jersey on his shoulders, and a small smile on his face. The refs led the procession out onto the field and the match was soon underway. Lucas did some last minute stretches before confirming the defensive plan with the others in the defensive line.

The ball was kicked and suddenly the stadium went into a frenzy. Maleen bit her lip as she watched the ball being passed around and shots on goal. Luckily, Lucas hadn't had to do any drastic tackles yet to stop the ball from heading towards the Barcelona net. The Barcelona defense was tight and Maleen could see that Lucas was quickly adapting to the style of play.

Half time was called and the score was a bitter 0-0 even though Barcelona had nearly twice as many shots on goal, for some reason, they were unable to break through just yet. Lucas talked with his teammates about how to improve defensively as he walked off the pitch. Maleen sent him a quick text, not knowing if he would have enough time to read it or not.

Great job out there. Keep it up for your #1 fan. Love you!

Putting away her phone, Maleen talked with a few of the other WAGs for a brief moment until the players reemerged from the tunnel and took the field once more. Lucas shook his legs out before doing a few quick hops on his toes. Maleen smiled as she saw her husband focus on the ball and the play. Maleen would admit it to herself several times, never to Lucas, but she thought he always looked the best whenever he was focused on the ball and playing his heart out on the pitch.

The name Digne reflected light off of Lucas' back as he raced down the field. After a quick pass to Sergio Busquets, Lucas continued running down the field, open for a pass and unmarked. With a quick pass overhead, Lucas trapped the ball before continuing to sprint down the field. Moving quickly past the defender, Lucas picked up his head and located several strikers in the box.

Planting his right foot, Lucas swung his hips and kicked the ball into the box, hoping that it would find the head or foot of one of his teammates. Unsurprisingly, Leo Messi headed the ball into the net and Barcelona was up. Maleen smiled and cheered as the team celebrated, proud that Lucas had gotten an assist in his first match with Barcelona.

Lucas smiled widely as many of the guys went up to him and ruffled his hair to show appreciation for his work in the play. The game continued and soon Barcelona was up 3-0. The other team seemed to be running out of gas as the clock continued to count down but Barcelona was not yet sated. More balls continued to be shot at the opponent's goal but the match ended at a solid 3-0 win for Barcelona.

Maleen picked up her belongings and followed the other WAGs down into the player section. As the players finished up in the locker room, they walked out, found their families, and went on their merry ways. Maleen waited patiently for Lucas to walk out of the locker room. The door opened and out walked Lucas, his hair damp from a quick shower. "I'm so proud of you," Maleen smiled before pulling Lucas into a hug and a kiss. "You did great out there today," Maleen commended, making Lucas smile even wider.

"I had to impress my #1 fan on my Barcelona debut, didn't I?" Lucas joked, wrapping his arm around Maleen's waist.

"Of course you did," Maleen winked as the two walked out of the stadium together, Lucas' arm wrapped securely around Maleen's waist.
