Alexander stared up at the ceiling, his arms resting on his stomach. John had just left their dorm, as Hercules had called him, telling him that Lafayette was throwing up and he was having trouble cleaning it all up. John had insisted that Alexander stay and after a few minutes of arguing, he let John leave. Alexander turned his head to check the time, assuming it had to be past midnight.
John had been gone for at least thirty minutes, and Alexander was beginning to worry. He texted John, immediately receiving a text that Lafayette was feeling better and that he would be home soon. Alexander sighed, and he rose up from his bed and made his way to his closet, opening the doors. He pulled out a box from the top shelf, and slowly removed the lid. He picked up the tiny lion that lay inside the box and made his way back to the bed.
"James! We're home!" Rachel said, stepping into the house, her husband standing right behind her.
"Hi, mother. Did you buy me anything?" James asked, wrapping his small arms around his mother's legs.
"Actually, we did."
"Yep, we bought something for you and your brother," James said, smiling down at his son. Rachel pulled a plush lion out of her bag and handed it do her son.
"Thanks, mother!" The little boy hugged his mother and father, before racing back to his room.
"I'm going to give this to Alexander." Rachel said to her husband, and he nodded, placing their groceries on the table. Rachel made her way to the baby's room, opening the door very quietly. She walked towards the crib and smiled at the tiny baby lying in it.
"Hello, Alexander." The baby giggled, and Rachel's smile widened.
"I got you something." She whispered, and she handed the baby the plush lion. Alexander quickly wrapped his arms and legs around it, staring at its face.
"Lion." He said, causing Rachel to freeze.
"What did you say?" She asked, gripping the side of the crib tightly.
"Lion," Alexander repeated, giggling slightly. Rachel wiped the tears that were running down her cheeks, not believing what had just happened.
"Yes, baby. Lion."
"Alexander!" Alexander's head snapped up, and he whimpered, not aware of what was happening.
"Alexander, are you alright?" John asked, holding his boyfriend's face in his hand's.
"W-What's happening?" Alexander asked, pushing his back even further into the wall.
"I opened the door to the room, and you were sitting on your bed, sobbing," John said, leaning against the pillow so that he was next to Alexander.
"Is this yours?" John asked, holding up the small lion. Alexander nodded, before grabbing it out of John's hands and holding it close to his chest.
"I think we should sleep now," Alexander whispered, and John nodded, wrapping is arms around Alexander's waist.
"Hey," Thomas said, leaning against the table. Angelica smiled, turning her head to look at him.
"You're up early."
"I had to finish a project."
