I turned to Jade.
It wasn't a question, it was a statement. A statement everyone knew but had to be said. Jade hung her head in shame.
"I'm sorry but I wasn't about to give Perrie up! It's not her fault and-" she babbled on, desperately trying to put pieces of speech together.
"Jade, Jade, calm down. We don't care. In fact, were glad you knew. It's better than Perrie bottling it up to herself." I gestured to Perrie who was now gratefully snuggling into Zayn's arms.
"So you're not mad?" Perrie asked quietly, "You don't think I'm disgusting and freakish and-"
"Perrie! Course we're not mad! Why do you think you're disgusting?" Zayn interrupted. Perrie just hung her head.
"I think we all need a lie down. Two hybrids in one day has got be about as rare as a twelve pack carton of double yolked eggs," Liam said, laying back on one of the mattresses.
"Yeah..." Louis began slowly, "We probably do all need a lie down, but first we need to clear up the mattresses and continue on where Perrie is gonna live." I sighed in annoyance.
"But Lou..." I whined, "It's too much work!"
"Well then I guess we all have to join in so it's not so much work," he retorted smugly, helping Harry to his feet. The rest of them were up and soon after Zayn and Perrie. We carried the mattresses back in fours since they were quite heavy.
It took a while and a lot of shouting but finally they were up the stairs and on their original beds (we had changed the sheets as well for the pleasure of Louis' younger sisters).
"So," I said, flopping onto a sofa, "Where do we start?"
"I think, with as much truth and evidence as we can all get," we all stared at Louis completely clueless to what he was getting at, but he just sighed and continued, "If we need to know where Perrie can be safe, we need to know where those men are now, who they're working for etcetera."
"I don't remember much of the lab. I just remember there was one," Perrie began hesitantly, "There was this guy that created us-"
We all stopped and stared at Harry.
"So, you're saying, Haz, that this guy's name was Ben?" Louis asked slowly. Harry nodded vigorously.
Liam raised his eyebrows at the nickname but said nothing.
"Like Perrie said he was our creator and he... Umm... He - he was, he didn't..." Harry began stumbling over words and gulping for air. Louis immediately dived to his side and began stroking his back whispering sweet nothings in his ear to calm him down.
"He wasn't very nice. That I can remember." Perrie finished. To show us what she meant she raised her sleeve to reveal a scar that looked a little like a straight hashtag. Harry raised whatever was left of his sleeve to show one exactly the same.
"He kept us in cages, and just to prove we were his property he held on side in the flame until it was searing hot, then put us inside and pressed us to it," A silent tear fell down her cheek at the memory, "It hurt so much and we couldn't do anything..." She drifted off into tears.
"Then Perrie escaped one day when he let us out of our cages. We got to once a month if we were lucky and were fed food and water in bowls once a day. She stacked the cages and made it out the window but Ben came back just in time to see her go. He ordered his men out to find her and from what happened at the theme park, I don't think they've stopped." I looked at Harry, shaking my head in wonder and awe.
