Annabeth's PoV
Thalia and I ran like our lives depended on it. It probably did.
The silver light moved at the same pace as us. Thalia and I were determined to get back to camp without stopping for a break.
We passed trees, animals, people, but we didn't stop. Our energy didn't fuel us. It was the fear and determination in our hearts that kept us moving.
Thalia and I jogged until I felt my side erupt in pain and i bent over to clutch it. Thalia asked, "A running cramp?"
I nodded and massaged it until the pain eased out. I said, "While we're here, why don't we take a break and get some food or something?"
Thalia nodded, "I'll go hunt some food for us, can you start a fire?"
I nodded, "Yeah. Stay out of trouble."
Thalia nodded, "You too Annabeth."
Thalia walked to the forest near by and I stayed in the clearing we had found.
I picked up two rocks and thought, let's get this fire started.
Thalia's PoV
I walked into the forest and immediately the animals swarmed around me. The Hunters have a lot of secrets, and one secret is that we can talk to animals. I spotted an elderly deer that was destined to die from a car.
I walked over to it and knelt down. I placed my hand on its head. The deer didn't move. It's eyes were practically begging for me to take her out of her misery. The deer shuffled and limped to a few feet away and I looked at the spot where it had been sitting. There, sat a little baby deer with shiny blue eyes.
The elderly deers voice rang through my head, Child... I sense your hunger and I have no use left... Take me out of my misery and please feast on me...
I frowned, then I looked at the deer, "What about the young one?"
The deer continued, She is special... Give her to The Commander... At first, The Commander will not except her from fear of her powers... But keep insisting and eventually, he will except...
And huntress... If you ever need help... I'm always here...
Suddenly, a bright blue light flew from the elder deer's body and placed itself on my wrist. I looked at noticed that a beautiful intricate picture of a deer with white spot and blue eyes.
I frowned and thought, What does it do?
Then, I looked at the young deer and picked her up, "I'll name you... Sapphire."
I set her down on her feet and looked at Sapphire, "Follow me, okay?"
I picked up the body of the elder deer. I walked out of the woods with Sapphire following me closely.
I walked out of the thicket of woods and stepped into the clearing where I saw Annabeth sitting by a burning fire staring deep into it.
She looked up when she saw me and said, "Hey Thals."
I jutted my head acknowledging her. I admit, I had grown colder to her since... little Percy Problem...
I sat down next to her and Sapphire sat down next to me. Elegantly folding her legs under herself.
Annabeth asked, "So... Did you find any food?"
I snapped, "No Annabeth. I'm just dragging a dead deer around behind me because I can."
Annabeth looked taken aback, "Calm down Thalia. I was just asking!"
I sighed, "Sorry Annabeth.. I'm just a little confused..."
Annabeth softened a little, "You know Thals... If you need anyone to talk to, I'm right here."
I sighed, "Yeah." Then, I briefly explained what happened in the woods.
Annabeth looked thoughtful, "Hmm... What I think you should do is follow the elder's directions. Convince Commander Omega to accept the deer."
The deer softly mewled as if complaining. I heard her with my powers and she said, "My name's Sapphire you know!"
I laughed, "Sapphire looks like she's saying that her name isn't 'Deer.'"
Annabeth laughed, "Thals, you're crazy! Animals cant talk!"
I frowned, "Annabeth, don't say that."
Annabeth shrugged, "Meh, I'm just saying the truth you know. Daughter of Athena here. I'm always right."
I grew angry. I hated this side of her. The arrogant side.
The cocky side.
The side that doesn't understand.
The side that broke us.
The side that broke us all.
The side that ruined us.
The side that might kill us.
The side that may wipe us off the face of Earth.
The side that may be the death of us.
The side that betrayed us all.
The side that chose the wrong side.
The side that took the wrong path.
The side that ruined her life.
The side that broke one of us.
The side that lost one of us.
The side that killed one of us.
The side that ruined our hero.
The side that hurt our Percy.
And when she said that one thing I knew that this wasn't Annabeth.
And I knew, that our Annabeth was long gone.
Our Annabeth was washed away.
By pain.
Death.
Loss.
Grief.
Lust.
Anger.
Rage.
Misery.
Sorrow.
Self-Pity.
Desire.
Greed.
Despair.
Agony.
And I knew, that if we wanted our Annabeth back, then we needed to fix her.
Or admit...
That we lost our Annabeth...
Forever.
Hey guys! So this chapter was a little more gloomy and spiritual.
