Keith's POV

'Those who are the saddest smile the brightest' I thought in my head. I was on my bed, listening to my music, pondering the situation that had occurred earlier. He'd know I'd be there for him...right? I really hope so.... I then turn off my music and it's like all thoughts of Lance come flooding back, music was always my distraction. I then close my eyes and try to fall into sleep when I start to think of the freckles that pepper his face. I wanted to trace them, I wanted to hold him in my arms and fall asleep, I want to look into his deep blue eyes and drown in them, I want-
I stopped myself short, why do I keep thinking this? It's all what I want from him in my mind, maybe I really am selfish when it comes to Lance.  A deep blush then spreads across my face, okay maybe I really did like Lance...a lot.

This was enough to get me out of bed, helmet already in my hands. I opened up the space lock door and hopped onto my bike and coasted into the black space, glittering with the stars light. So many thoughts of Lance were filling into my head, I don't know how to make them stop. As I was zooming past planets I came to a halt at the sights of a very familiar one. A smile then spread its way across my face. Our planet. My feet hit the soft sandy ground as I parked my bike on the small beach in the center of the water planet. I walked to the very edge of the water and let out a sigh of relief, calming huh? I dip my fingers into the water and then brig them out, letting the water trickle down slowly, creating another path of small blue diamonds shimmering in the water. I probably did that for the next hour or so and completely forgot about Lance, I couldn't even remember his name! With the new found freedom I decided to wade farther into the water, I knew how to swim so it wouldn't matter. Then without thinking my head sunk beneath the surface. I opened my eyes and saw many glittering diamonds around me from all the bubbles I had made while I entered the water. I went downward near the darker parts of the area and noticed coral like plants, is planet really is like an ocean isn't it? A large fish swam past me and I let out a gasp, all of my breath had been released into the deep blue abyss. I was to far away from the surface and shore so I started to panic. I desperately tried to swim up but my lungs felt strained.
'How am I going to get up? Will I survive? Will I die?! Will I ever see Lance again?' Oh great there goes the 'Will I' again. My body then goes limp and my questions are answered, darkness soon surrounds me. But I don't lose consciousness.... And I'm still breathing? My body slowly regained feeling and my eyes fluttered open. My lungs felt very.... Weird....almost jello like? Was I breathing water? Oh my gosh, IM BREATHING FREAKING WATER! But how? I'm gonna ignore that and just have fun! I then began to notice how free and happy I felt, something I hadn't experienced in a long time, but it was really nice.

I finally emerged from the water, hair soaking wet and my muscles feeling slightly achey. Suddenly I felt the inside of my burst and I helped out in pain, but surprisingly it only lasted for a second before my lungs felt normal again, that's actually kind of....neat! I had to tell Lance! I hopped onto my bike shaking out my wet hair before taking off with a wide smile plastered onto my face, wow this planet really had an effect on me...
What made me smile even more was the trails of small blue diamonds following behind me, maybe this water is magical? No sounds to made up....but it feels that way...why does my mind keep wandering?!

My smile faded when I saw Shiro standing outside the air lock door with a large frown on his face.
"Keith! Where have you been?" Shiro asked, with a stern look, wow what a dad guys...
"Umm out riding?" I answered with a half hearted shrug.
Shiro then rubbed his temples, "We can't afford to have you out and about at this hour! What if the Galra attacked?!"
"Shiro calm down!" I started, geez why is he so tense....
"This team is falling apart..." He muttered walking away.
Was the water a distraction from what was really going on back here? I guess I've been a bit too happy and care free when I get back from the island.
I shook the thought away and went to go see Lance.
I opened the door to his room and saw Lance sitting in the corner on his bed, facing away from me. I was about to say hello when I heard soft sobs again.
"Hey hey! What's wrong Lance?!" I asked, running over to his side.
He only buried his head in his hands even more.
"Lance tell me what's wrong!" I asked again, skating his shoulders.
His head lifts up to reveal puffy red eyes and trembling lips on his tanned skin.
I felt my heart shatter right then and there.
"I-I-I h-had another flash b-back ag-again..." He stuttered out trying to hold back his sobs.
My heart broke even more and tears gathered in my eyes, I wasn't there when he needed me.... I really am selfish...for my own problems not his!
I didn't care how heated my face felt and I pulled him into a hug, he needed it.
"Shhh, it's okay, I'm here now, it can't hurt you when I'm here..." I whisper and rub his back gently.
His sniffles died down and he buried his head into the crook on my neck.
"T-thank you K-Keith...for e-everything..." He mumbled.
I continued to hush him for as long as it took until he had completely stopped crying and sniffling.
He then pulled away, his deep blue eyes sparkling.
"How about I tell you what I discovered today so you can fall asleep easier?" I offered.
He nodded and smiled, before laying down completely.
I smiled back and shifted so that I was facing him.
"I went back to the island again..." I whispered softly.
His eyes lit up, causing a warm blush to appear on my cheeks, "Without me?" He joked.
I nodded, "I needed to get away from...things....but then I went swimming and I went deeper and deeper into the depths and the I began to loose feeling."
Suddenly his hand grabs onto mine, he looks like a child being read a bedtime story right now....which was cute...
"Are you alright?! How did you get out?" He asked.
I chuckled and told him the rest of my discovery and he asked many questions and I answered them. Seeing him light up like this honestly brought me more joy then anyone could ask for.
"Hey Keith, what exactly were you trying to get away from if you don't mind me asking?" He asked curiously.
My eyes widened and I froze, my cheeks started to warm up even more. Guess I should be honest at this point.
"Y-you..." I replied and turned my head away, hiding my impossibly large blush.
Silence.
"Is that good or bad?" He asks again.
I then look at him and reply, "Good..."
His blank expression made my stomach drop, oh no he probably hates me right now.
He then let's out a small laugh and then reaches his hand up towards my face, I freeze in place.
His eyes sparkle and almost seem to drown me on purpose.
He begins to rise up and a smile makes its way to his lips.
His hand moves to the back of my neck and he gently pushes me forward, still I'm not able to move, but honestly I really don't want to.
He just centimeters away from me, eyes shinning and a light blush on his tanned cheeks, "I'm glad..." He whispers before placing his own lips on mine.
Electricity runs through me, I feel like I've just been electrified, but it feels really warm and nice.
He just barely pulls back and kisses me again, this time I begin to kiss back.
After a while he finally pulls away and smiles at me, I smile back and lean my forehead against his.
"I'm here for you Lance, always..." I whisper to him.
