A manticore (man-eater) is a mythological creature, known to have a human's head, a red lion's body, a deadly scorpion tail, and three rows of dangerously sharp teeth. Sometimes a manticore is pictured as having bat-like wings, but the image of it varies. They are also able to fold themselves up into the shape of a scarab, a beetle commonly shown in Egypt.
Manticores are known to have a poisonous sting that humans are fatal to. Once the poison reaches the heart, it instantly kills. When a manticore wants to feed, the prey itself is devoured whole; the manticore even eats the clothes and bones of the victim.
