"Ready?" He asked as he held my hand, his hand cupping my cheek, his beautiful green eyes searching mine.
"Ready." I whispered.
He brushed his lips against mine, before turning and opening the door, leading me in to the room that held the rest of his family.
All eyes turned our way and Jay squeezed my hand reassuringly as he led me further into the room and began making introductions.
"Mia, it's so nice to meet you. You can't imagine how happy I was to hear that Jay had finally found someone he was serious about and that he was bringing you with him. Megan has told me so much about you and I really hope we can be friends."
I was standing in front of Amanda Williams. Amanda Williams the movie star, Amanda Williams, older sister of Jay Williams and I couldn't have been happier that she greeted me that way.
"Thank you Amanda, it's really nice to meet you too. And, yes I really hope we can be friends too." I smiled sincerely and she gave me a hug and I could see Jay smiling from the corner of my eye.
"Mia, this is my fiancé Tim." He held my hand and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"It's nice to meet you Mia." He said genuinely and I felt myself start to relax.
"You too Tim." I answered as he turned his attention to Jay and winked.
"Well done man." Jay laughed as they gave each other a man hug.
I immediately felt the tension return when he introduced me to his parents.
"It's nice to meet you dear."
His mum said pretentiously as she air kissed both cheeks.
"You too Mrs Williams."
"Please dear, call me Beth." I nodded not knowing what else to do or say.
"And this is my dad, Robert." I definitely did not like the way his dad, Robert was looking at me. It was only a quick look before it was masked, but it was a look that had my skin crawling. A look that left me feeling incredibly dirty.
"It's nice to meet you Mia." He said as he kissed my cheek, leaving it feeling as if he had infected it. His hand lingered on mine for longer than necessary before he released it.
"Jayden." His hand tightened around mine and he stiffened at the sound of the voice behind us. He cleared his throat and composed himself before turning to face her.
"Tracy." He said more as an acknowledgement than a greeting.
"It's good to see you." She purred, completely ignoring the fact that I was stood beside him and Carlo beside her.
"It's been so long, we should catch up." Her innuendo wasn't lost on me and since Jay looked like he was about to blow up, I stepped in.
"You must be Tracy, I've heard so much about you."
She raised her eyebrow as she searched my eyes. "All good I hope." She pushed and I gave a fake smile.
"My mother told me if I had nothing nice to say, I shouldn't say anything." I said quietly and her eyes bore into mine.
"Cute and funny." She said as she dismissed me.
"Carlo." Carlo broke the tension by extending his hand towards Jay, who accepted it politely.
"Nice to meet you Carlo. I'm Amanda's brother Jay and this is my girlfriend Mia."
He reached for my hand and kissed my cheek. "It's nice to meet you Mia. You have a very beautiful name."
