Three years later
I stared out the window at the ocean and the white sand. The waves crashed and the sun shone through the sheer curtains.
"You ready sweetheart?" my mom asked.
"Are you happy being married to Michael?" I asked her. She smiled.
"That was the third best day of my life," she answered.
"What was the first?" I asked.
"Your birthday," she said while kissing my forehead.
"Second?" I asked.
"Jacklynn's birthday," she confirmed and I giggled.
"We can do this sweetheart," she said. I paced back and forth as I heard the music. My mom stood next to me and she pulled me by the arm. Luckily I was able to get used to these heels or that would've sucked. I took her arm and she lead me out onto the aisle. My little sister was the flower girl even though she was only two.
My step dad wanted to walk me down the aisle, but it had been mom's dream since I was five. I looked up at Ace who was smiling like an idiot. Kyle stood beside him as his best man, Damon's girlfriend and my best friend, Olivia stood on my side of the altar as my maid of honor. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Damon holding the rings. I looked around at everybody else and smiled.
I finally made it up to the altar and handed my bouquet to Olivia and then turned to Ace looking into his eyes. He slowly lifted the veil and smiled at me when he saw my eyes meet his.
"Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of these witnesses, to join Violet Sanders and Ace Daniels in matrimony commended to be honorable among all; and therefore is not to be entered into lightly but reverently, passionately, lovingly and solemnly. Their time together, they have seen their love and understanding of each other grow and blossom and now they have decided to live out the rest of their lives as one. Into this - these two persons present now come to be joined. They will now present their vows," the minister said. He went first.
"On this day, I give you my hand, my heart, my promise, that I will walk with you, hand in hand, wherever our journey leads us, living, learning, loving. With my whole heart, I take you as my wife, acknowledging and accepting your faults and strengths, as you do mine. From this day forward, we walk together, forever." he said as he took my hands in his. Looking at me with his loving eyes. I focused on his irises as they sparkled and I smiled at the man I was marrying.
"I take you to be my partner for life, I promise above all else to live in truth with you and to communicate fully and fearlessly, I give you my hand and my heart as a sanctuary of warmth and peace and pledge my love, devotion, faith and honor as I walk with you and join my life to yours forever." I said sincerely. We didn't look away from each other's eyes.
