"Is everything okay?" She dared to ask him, afraid of what his answer may be.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he nodded. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"I don't know," she frowned. "You didn't mention you had a sister. Or anything about your family for that matter."

"You haven't talked about your family," he shrugged.

"Harry," Indie sighed, not comfortable with the cold tone he was using with her. "Why are you being so cold?"

"I'm not on the best terms with my family," was all he said and then stepped into the elevator, standing in the center while Indie stood on the side, her lower back pressed into the wall. She felt bad for how seeing his sister made him feel. She didn't have a wonderful relationship with her own parents, both having been discouraging about her desire to be an artist. They didn't think that was a life, not when her brother was a lawyer and that was fair. Indie was smart enough to be a doctor if she wanted but it wasn't what she wanted. That, however, didn't make her uncomfortable to be in the same room with them. She could tell it was clearly painful for Harry to see Gwen and it made her sad to think he felt that way about someone he shared the same blood with. Though, it was hypocritical of her when she hadn't talked or seen her brother in three years.

Indie sat silently in the passenger seat of Harry's car, not wanting to upset him more. She fiddled with her fingers in her lap, her legs up on the seat. Her eyes moved to the rear view mirror and she inhaled slowly as she watched the passing traffic. She tried to keep her lips together but eventually she couldn't keep it in any longer.

"Do you want to talk about it?" She asked, looking over at him. "About Gwen? Or just your family?"

"I'd rather not," he shook his head.

"Are you sure? You'd feel better if you talked about it," Indie tried again but held her breathe right after the words left her lips. The look that crossed his face when she said it made her skin crawl.

"How do you know?" He snapped before sighing. "I'm sorry, love. I'm just a bit in shock that Gwen is here and I know you're just trying to help. I appreciate it but I really don't want to talk about it. Not right now at least."

"Okay, fair enough," she nodded as he pulled up in front of her dorm building. "You know I'm here when you do, right?" She questioned as she unbuckled the seat belt.

"Thank you, Ind," he smiled softly. "I'll talk to you later?"

"Yeah, sure thing," she leaned over and kissed his lips quickly. "I'm here, okay?"

"I know," Harry nodded. "I expect this back you know," he pinched the fabric of his flannel shirt on Indie's body.

"I don't think so, baby," she smirked and opened the door. "Bye Harry," she sang and climbed out, laughing lightly as she hoped over to the building. She peaked behind her to find Harry still watching her, it made her lips curl up as she yanked open the door and as soon as she did her smile vanished.

She rubbed her thumb over her sweater and slowly walked up the stairs to get to the second floor where her dorm sat. It didn't take long until she was digging her key out of the secret pocket in the black yoga shorts on her body, opening the door and walking in to find River slowly waking up. Tina still passed out in her bed.

"Hey," River yawned. "Where'd you go?"

"I was with Harry," she walked over to her dresser and set her stuff down, setting the key on the wooden surface.

"Uh oh," he laughed quietly.

"Don't make that face. You know when she got home?" She groaned and nodded towards Tina, slipping out of her sandals. She twisted in her spot and walked over to the bed, sighing sadly.

"She probably stumbled in around one," he shrugged. "What's wrong with you? You're making that face you make when something is irritating you."

"Nothing," she argued but she knew she wasn't pulling the wool over River's eyes, she sighed when he grabbed her arm and pulled her down onto the empty space he has made for her. She rested her head against arm and shut her eyes tightly. "Everything was great. We had such a great night and then this morning his sister showed up and he turned sour. I'm just kind of irritated a bit by his behavior about the whole thing."

"Don't read too much into it, Ind," he yawned. "You're pretty tense when it comes to your family too."

"You're my family," Indie hummed and snuggled back into his chest. "I love you, Rive."

"You too, Indie," he rested his head against her shoulder.

"You two are vomit worthy, you know that?" Tina groaned from her bed, turning around onto her side.

"I'm sure," River rolled his eyes in response. "How was your date?"

"It was good, really good," she nodded with the smallest of smiles on her lips as she thought about the way it had ended. Louis was sweet enough to get out of the car and walk her to the door, kissing her again before he left. "Where were you by the way? You weren't here when I got in. I had half a mind to think you were kidnapped."

"Kidnapped? By who?" Indie laughed. "I was with Harry," she picked at the fabric of the shirt on her body.

"How was it?" Tina smirked.

"Do no answer that," River groaned. "I love you, Ind but I don't want to hear about your sex life. Not now, not ever."

Indie held her lips in a tight straight line and sunk further into her bed, looking over at River who looked more than annoyed with the conversation. She had to keep herself from laughing at the undeniable look of discomfort he displayed, probably not wanting to think about his best friend with somebody.

"It was mind-blowing," she smirked to herself and squealed when River pushed on her arm, sending her to the floor. "We did it on the floor too," she laughed and grinned when he screamed into her pillow, causing Tina to burst into laughter. Indie pushed herself up onto her elbow and groaned herself. "You know, that is the second time today you've sent me to the floor."

"Probably deserved it," he told her. "When was the first?"

"When I was trying to get out of bed to answer the door without waking you," she explained. "Just incase you didn't hear me then," she smiled sarcastically. "I called you an asshole."

"That really doesn't surprise me but I'll always be your favorite," he grinned at her and she shook her head, knowing it was true. River was her number one, always had been and would be for the rest of her life. Nothing came before him and for him, nobody was more important than her. That was why they worked so well and it'd stay that way for a very, very long time.

a/n;

Gwen is here! I'm super excited about her arrival and since she was stranger number two, I'm going to give you a hint as to who Stranger X is since they'll be revealed next chapter? Or maybe it's the one after that. Either way, they've been mentioned before in the story by name. Can you guess who it is?
