"I was on my way to find Kamatsu to apologize."
"Oh, yeah. I talked to him before we came out here. He's a cool dude."
"What made you want to apologize now?" Keiko asked. She eyed him.
So he told them what happened in the World Where Titan's Sleep. He told them all about what Hiro had said to him, and about how much he felt like a jerk for ignoring Kamatsu's apologies. Both Michael and Ian nodded along with the conversation while Keiko simply tilted her head. At the end of Dre's explanation, Michael said, "So in other words, you didn't want to listen to your friends when they said to apologize to him, but you'd listen to Hiro and Reiax in a heartbeat."
Guilt tore through him as Michael said that. "Dude. It's not like that. You guys helped me decide to apologize, too. If it would've just been Hiro and Reiax, I probably wouldn't have even listened. But since they were saying the same thing that you guys were telling me, I thought that it would be the best thing to do."
Michael chuckled. "I'm only kidding."
"Geez, man. Thanks for that shot of guilt. That'll definitely get me through this morning." He gave Michael a dull stare. "Are Katherine and Kamatsu still down by the lake?"
"Yeah, bro," Ian answered. "There probably by the edge of the road. If things get sour, though, try not to fight. I don't want to drag your unconscious body around again."
"Ha, ha," Dre muttered dryly before he walked back on the road.
Moments later, he found himself just a few yards away from the road. The only sounds he heard was the crashing of the small waves crashing on the shore and occasionally a plane passing by. He began to doubt that they were even out there. The team was probably just screwing with him so they could get a laugh.
Dre grumbled to himself as he turned back to the campsite, until he heard what sounded like a jet taking off behind him. He snapped back around just in time to see a large, bright blue stream of light jetting towards the sky. He gaped at its beauty; it was almost as if he were witnessing an angel descending from the heavens. Sprinting towards the source of the light, he wondered if this were where Kamatsu and Katherine were training. If so, who fired that beam of light? And what was it?
He skidded to a halt on the sands, his mouth agape as he saw Katherine hold the beam of light in both of her hands. He couldn't believe what he was looking at. It looked like a scene straight out of Dragon Ball Z. Dre took a step towards her before he realized that Kamatsu was nowhere to be seen.
The light abruptly ended, and Katherine fell to a knee, panting heavily. "Dammit," she said, swinging in the air. "I can still barely keep it up for only ten seconds." Pounding her fist into the sand, she sat down, sitting cross-legged.
"H-hey, Katherine!" Dre finally called. She turned incredulously. "I thought you were out here training with Kamatsu. Where is he?"
"Flying," Katherine simply said before turning back around.
"Flying?" Dre repeated. "What do you mean? Amians can't fly."
"Spirit and Wind Amians can," she said without looking back at him. "He said that he was going to fly to the other side of the lake and back. You can sit here if you want."
Dre knelt beside Katherine, who had her eyes closed as the breeze blew past her. It was weird, her being a Spirit elemental, yet she didn't seem to notice his presence. He figured that Spirit Amians had the innate ability to sense the spirit of other Amians. Or, maybe, it wasn't that. Maybe she just hated him. Maybe she didn't like the way he was treating Kamatsu, either. She only seemed somewhat kind once, and that was after she almost broke his ribs during the training. Man, I'm such a mondo dork.
