stay together for the kids - blink - 182

I looked outside of the window in my classroom, watching Ms. Tate bring the students to there parents.

"You ready kiddo?" I smiled at my nephew.

"Yeah, let me go to the bathroom. I'll meet you outside okay?" I just nodded and headed out the front doors and to my car. As I was waiting to get in, Shane walked up to me. Shane was my brother's partner.

"Shane?" I questioned. "What's wrong?" I immediately thought of all the terrible situations that could happen.

"Rick... He... He got in an accident. Lori is with him at the hospital now." I looked straight and saw blue eyes boy smiling brightly. I forced one back to ease him.

"I'll tell him." I looked both ways before crossing the street. I got my knees and began to tell Carl.

I jolted awake. I couldn't tell myself it was just a dream. It wasn't. Rick really did die. Rick is dead. My brother is dead. At least that's what Shane says.

I noticed clothes laying out for me and Lori crossed my mind. Every morning she layed clothes for me. I still have yet to say thank you. I quickly pulled on the clothing items which consisted of jeans, a flannel with the sleeves ripped apart, and then a jean dress shirt. As I laced my boots on, I noticed the silver glint under my pajama shirt. I immediately put it on. My 21st first birthday present. It was the only thing I wanted. No booze, no nothing. Just this necklace. It was my mothers.

I zipped the tent closed and walked down to the lawn chairs.

"Hey, we're leaving in 15." Glenn says as he hands me a bowl and plastic spoon.

Oatmeal.

I gave him a disgusted look.

"Daryls going on a run. Don't worry." He chuckled as he put water bottles in his pack.

"Thank god." Is it bad that I found the bad boy attractive? Daryl Dixon. I didn't really know much about him, except for his pervy brother. I knew everything about Merle Dixon. He would always come on runs with us.

Always.

You can practically see the agony in my brown eyes. As I put my bowl and spoon into the bin, Carl wrapped his small arms around my legs.

"Hey kiddo." I smiled. He gave me a small one back. "I expect that math to be done." Lori and Carol were having me teach there kids. They still thought that this world needs math. I didn't of course.

"Be safe okay?"

"Always." I promised and kissed his forehead.

"Harley, I mean it." He said sternly.

"I know. I know. I'll be back soon. 2 days tops." I grinned. I walked to the car and then all of us were off into the city.

"Ugh!" I groaned. Yesterday we had scavenged as much as possible. Now, we needed to find a way out of the city.

"Hey. Whose that?" Morales asks, after handing the binoculars.

He was wearing a Sherriff's uniform. Had a hat on too. Looks similar to a Kings County one, but I'm not sure.

"I'm gonna go get him." I stated and ran towards the door that led go the store below.

"Harley!" I heard Glenn yell.

"All of you just stay here." I said loading my gun. I put a knife on my belt, just incase.

"Fine. But take this." Jaqui handed me a radio and I gladly took it.

"When I radio in, open the door. If not, I'll go through the roof." I stayed in the city for my teaching degree. So I know a few things.

I walked out of the store and ran through the back alley.

I stayed near the wall, killing little walkers on the way.

"Hey." I said each time, trying a different channel.

"Hello? Hello?"

"Wanna get outta there?" I asked.

"Me?"

"Of course you. Dumbass." I mumbled that last part. I heard him chuckle so I know he heard.

"Here's what you do, go out the left side of the tank. It's the least crowded. Then, take a right down that alley and I'll be there. Let me do the rest."

"Alright. See you in a minute." Then the connection went away and I waited patiently. I heard gunshots so I ran up to the front gate.

"Not dead! Not dead!" I yelled.

"Harley?"

"No time!" We ran towards the ladder and he kept killing walkers.

"What're you doing?! Let's go!" I shouted at him. We sprawled up the ladder and made it to the steel, yellow balcony.

"Harley." He breathed.

"Shut the hell up Rick. I need to think." I looked down and saw walkers trying to climb up. Damn it.
