Camila ~
Shawn has made me feel like I am such a great artist. I love how he's confident in my work and very appreciative of it. It's actually made myself feel better. I wasn't sad or anything like that, but I never knew that I loved to draw so much before he came along. I'm glad I stumbled upon him in that lobby.

"Thanks." I bluntly said aloud. I meant to say it in my mind, but that obviously didn't happen. He turned around and gave me a look of confusion before biting into his bagel.

"For what?" He asked with a mouthful.

"Um... Thanks for... I don't know... Never mind." I shook my head and returned to my book. "No, tell me," he swallows his food and continued," thanks for what?" He lied his head on my lap as it gave me a chuckle.

"I don't know how to say it. Thanks for letting me know that I like to draw, I guess. I don't know." My face flushed with embarrassment.

"Oh, I get you. I think. 'I don't know.'" He imitated my voice at the end. He lifted his head up and planted a small kiss on my lips. He showed off his white teeth. I playfully rolled my eyes and returned to reading.

"What're you reading?" He asked, giving the bagel one last bite until it was finally finished.

"A Separate Peace." I replied, moving a strand of hair from my face.

"Never heard of it." His voice muffled through the food in his mouth.

"Well, it's good." I licked my lips as my eyes scanned each line of the page.

"Read me some."

"I'm at the end of the book."

"Please. I want to see why this makes you so fascinated."

"I see the way you read this book. You don't read this way with any other book."

"Why don't you read it?"

I placed the paperback book in his large hands and pointed to the sentence I left off at.

"All of them, all except Phineas, constructed at infinite cost to themselves these Maginot Lines against the enemy they thought they saw across the frontier, this enemy who never attacked that way---if he ever attacked at all; if he was indeed the enemy."

Shawn looked at the page dazed as I played with his curly hair.

"What does it mean?" He asked me.

"Which part?"
"The ending, and who is Phineas?"

"You should just read the whole thing."

"Fine." He stuck the book underneath his arms and whipped out his phone.

"I'm putting a notification on my phone to finish this book as soon as possible." His thumbs typed away on the screen before he placed it back in his pocket. He glanced up at me and widened the smile on his face. I continued to play with his curly hair and he began diving into the adventure that is A Separate Peace.
