Chapter Twenty Three: This isn't Juice

Violet's P.O.V.

I sat at the bar and watched as Damon took some more shots. What just occurred to me was that he was drunk. I didn't know how to ride a bike. How were we getting home? Okay, we would leave the bike there overnight and take a cab home.

"Can I get some juice?" I asked the bartender. He slid me a cup and I took a sip. I spit it out all over the counter and chugged the whole water bottle that I had in my purse.

"That isn't juice," I exclaimed. Damon looked at me as if I was crazy and then started laughing. I relaxed a little and looked at the bartender shooting daggers at him with my eyes.

"My my if looks could kill you would be a murder kitten. Chill out," he said putting his arm around me. How was this guy still not hammered?

"Last time I was at a party, I was drugged and woke up with a new tattoo," I explained because I knew that he wouldn't remember in the morning. He nodded and pulled me off the bar stool and out to the dance floor. He started dancing and I felt awkward. He grabbed my hands again and started moving them around until I started to dance too. After about half an hour, I went back over to the bar and sat down.

I looked at my phone to check the time and I had a message from Ace. I debated on whether to open it or not. I gave in and clicked on the message.

Ace: Thinking of you. I was trying not to for awhile, but I decided that you belong there-stuck in my head.

I read the message and instantly regretted coming out. I debated on whether to respond let alone tell him where I was.

Me: Miss you too Ace.

That was all that I could come up with. I put my phone in my purse and walked out into the crowd to find Damon. When I did, he was sticking his tongue down some girls throat and I scoffed. He was cheating on Amy. I rolled my eyes and walked outside. After calling a cab, I waited for it to show up and when it did, I got in and pulled out my phone and my wallet. I paid him, told him the location, and checked the time. It was one in the morning. I had a headache from the music so I took a painkiller and put my headphones in and played the music.

When the driver had finally gotten to the dorms, I thanked him and got out. It was different in the dark, but I managed to find my dorm. When I got there, the lights were off, but I could tell that Amy was home. She was making out with some guy. I took off all of the makeup and Amy's clothes changing into a tank top and some shorts. I laid down, but couldn't sleep. First, Amy's bra came flying to my side of the room landing on my face.

I heard the creaking of the other bed, and I knew that having a roommate was going to be tough, especially this one. I rolled over and put my headphones in not wanting to hear anymore of that.

The next morning, I woke up to the sun climbing into my window. I felt something around my waist and for some reason, I thought it was Ace. I rolled over to see Damon laying in my bed. I was about to scream when he started groggily talking.

"Please don't go," he whispered. I sighed and rolled back over. His hand was still wrapped around my waist but he had pulled me closer into him. I felt warm, but Ace wouldn't leave my mind as I drifted off.

When I woke up, Damon's hand was still wrapped around my waist, and I was facing him snuggled into his chest. Damon started to wake up and I closed my eyes not knowing what else to do. He took his arm out from under me and stood up. He walked over to the bathroom brushing his teeth and then came back out. He walked over to my bed and kissed my cheek.

"Thanks kitten," he said. What just happened? Damon just kissed me. I tried to keep my eyes closed but I couldn't. I sat up and he looked back at me. He tried reaching for the doorknob, but I couldn't keep my mouth shut.

"Sit. Please?" I said but it came out more like a question. I stood up and walked into the bathroom brushing my teeth and hair before coming back out and sitting on the bed beside Damon.

"Why were in my bed last night?" I asked. 'And why did I let you stay?' I thought to myself.

"Sometimes I can't sleep, so I usually come over to Amy, but she was a little...busy, last night," he stated while nodding over to Amy's side of the room even though she had left a long time ago for a 'morning class' as she said even though we all knew that school was a while away.

"Why can't you sleep?" I asked. He sighed and his guard went up, faltered, and then fell for a moment.

"Don't laugh, but I over think things and last night I was," he paused. "I was jealous of you and your boyfriend when you mentioned him last night. I got...lonely I guess and started thinking about things which lead me to not be able to sleep. So I came here, and climbed into bed with you," he said. I felt bad for him for a moment.

"Did it help you?" I asked. He looked up from his shoes, which he had been staring at, and into my eyes as if searching for something. He nodded as did I.

"If Ace finds out that you kissed me let alone slept in the same be with me, he would be infuriated," I said flopping back onto the bed.

"You were awake for that?" he asked. I nodded and he flopped back down with me.

"I'm sorry that I put you in this position," he apologized. I nodded and sighed.

"As long as I was able to help you in a time of need. I mean that's what friends are for right?" I asked closing my eyes.

"We are friends?" he asked. I felt my cheeks heat up.

"I thought so but I totally understand if-" he cut me off.

"I would love to be your friend kitten," he reassured me as I closed my eyes again and sighed in relief. My phone went off and Ace's ringtone played. I sat up and answered the phone, Damon still on the bed.
