Vlad Masters, a billionaire and one of the most successful men in the world, stared into a computer screen the size of three normal TVs. A bold letter sentence appeared on his screen: "Ecto energy Unable to be Connected." He growled in anger as his deep blue eyes turned a pupil less blood red color, the large bags under his eyes growing darker.

His scowl turned into a slight smile, a chuckle escaping his breath. "What an interesting method of playing hide and seek, little badger." he muttered. Despite his calm demeanor, his eyes betrayed him and showed mixed emotions. "I will find you, Daniel. When I do, you will be at my side. And now that your family and friends are gone, they will not get in my way."

He had been planning on having his former friend's son, Daniel Fenton, as his own for weeks. When he found out that his family and friends had perished in an explosion, Vlad's wicked black heart shattered to pieces for his lifelong friend and crush, Maddie Fenton, tragically died in the explosion. His recent plan was then unable to be of use and he had to start over.

His second plan, the one he attempted, failed yet again when he heard Daniel ran away from the hospital he was put in for healing from his- what the doctors said-- unusual wounds. He wanted to file adoption papers and make Daniel sign them, or forge a will of young Danny's parents explaining that if anything happened to them, Daniel would be taken in by Vlad Masters. But the day he came to the hospital and told him about the papers, the boy's eyes widened in fear. Vlad, feeling shivers at the sight of Danny, had tried to get him to snap out of it. Unable to succeed, he called the nurses. Two nurses hurriedly arrived to help comfort the troubling teen.

"Daniel, breathe" one nurse spoke, sitting on the edge of Danny's bed. "Just take a deep breath." She made breathing gestures, hoping for Danny to notice. Unfortunately for her, the poor young teen was still struggling for air. His hyperventilating slowly increased, his panic rising along with it.

"You need to focus. Focus on anything, anyone. Don't think of anything other than that." The other nurse advised Danny.

The orphaned teen was still lost in his thoughts, the traumatic events he experienced still implanted in his brain. He heard only just a few words, but they were enough for him to get the message.

He turned his gaze to the first nurse, and through his blurred vision saw as she continued making the gestures. He thought of fun moments with Sam, his best friend. He thought of times before getting his powers when he used to always try to ask her out on a date, but was too afraid to do so. They were awkward times for him, but over time with his newfound powers, did he become more confident. And just before the C.A.T. ever happened, he was working up the courage to finally tell Sam how he felt. Why didn't he tell her before everything happened? Why didn't he tell her that he loved the way she was brave and stood up for herself and the people who need it? And how beautiful she was.

Just as he was calming down, the thought of losing the chance to do amazing things with Sam caused him to become so miserable in a matter of seconds. Danny began to choke, getting lost in thoughts yet again. It was all his fault; so very much his fault. Why should he be alive for causing so much pain and suffering? For killing his friends and family- and Mr. Lancer? It was all too much to bear.

He was indeed very depressed of her loss- to his family- but having these thoughts isn't going to save them. They didn't die for him to wallow in pain and grief all of his life. He needed to keep moving. He defeated his future self, now he needs to defeat Vlad and carry on to a new future where he can create a new family, and to protect them with all of his will.

Finally restoring his mindset, he calmed down and sat there with tear filled eyes but with a spark of light shining through them. Danny seemed to be shaking from the aftermath of the attack, but to the nurses it seemed safe for them hand him a cup of water and leave to treat other patients.

Before they departed, the nurses told Vlad (who was still in the room when all of this was happening) that he had PTSD. Vlad still wondered what caused him to break down like that. Having to see him so broken and depressed hurt him deeply. Of course, the man really did care for Daniel; however, he was afraid to admit it.

A day after the "incident", the nurses called and told him that Daniel disappeared. He knew that Daniel somehow ran away. And he was determined to find him and bring Danny safely home. Vlad will search the ends of the Earth if he had to. He will find his little badger. But if Vlad does find Daniel and he refuses to come peacefully, he'll make him. Even if he has to use force.

Blinking out of his thoughts, Vlad mumbled to himself in exasperation and continued typing. A red dot appeared on the bright screen, blanketing the dark room a flash of red. Amused, Vlad looked at the coordinates and grinned. "I knew you couldn't hide from me forever. Seems as though I won this little game you created."
