I've organized a workshop on WRITING AND DISCUSSING YOUNG ADULT LITERATURE. It will be on September 3, Saturday, 8:30 AM, at O2 Space on Amorsolo Street, Makati.
Ines Bautista-Yao, author of One Crazy Summer and editor of Coming of Age (both published by Summit Books) will be teaching. There will be a Q&A with me and Ines after, and we can talk about how to discuss YA literature in class, in reports, and reviews, and also publishing your own YA. Participating students don't have to be English writers, but the class will be delivered in English.
The workshop fee is P2,000.00. Sign up form is here: bit.ly/YASept2016.
Sign up and see you there!
UPDATE: IT IS AUGUST 15, AND THREE COMMENTERS HAVE BEEN CHOSEN. CONGRATS AND THANK YOU!
I am offering to sponsor ONE STUDENT. If selected, you will not have to pay the fee, and you will also get a small transportation allowance.
To be considered for sponsorship, please leave a comment on this page with the answer to the question: WHAT WAS THE BEST YOUNG ADULT NOVEL YOU READ THIS YEAR, AND WHAT MADE IT SO GREAT?
Please answer in grammatically correct English, or Filipino.
If you join, you must be willing to attend the class in Makati on September 3. The time and place will not be moved for you. The transportation allowance will only cover basic public transportation within Metro Manila and I sadly cannot sponsor airfare or provincial bus rates. (Sorry!)
I will consider each comment as a serious entry. Even when commenting to ask a question, please take the time to compose your thoughts, and know that I will be judging your comment because I want to make sure my sponsorship goes to a writer who is serious about learning.
I will choose one commenter to receive the sponsorship on August 15, 2016.
Thank you! Please share this with friends who might be interested.
