"Baby, come back to bed."

"I'm not sleepy."

"But I am. Cuddle me."

"I'll cuddle you when I'm sleepy," I promise him, opening Luke's bedroom door and stepping out into the hallway.

I hear him sigh slightly and wait on the landing, before I see his shadow come into the light and smile.

"Morning, Yukie."

"Morning, baby," he yawns, stretching. "Why aren't you sleepy?"

I shrug, carefully tiptoeing my way down the stairs with Luke behind me.

It's currently 03:32am, and we both got home from bowling around two hours ago.

As much as I'd love to be able to just fall asleep, I just can't. It's like my mind's fighting to keep me awake, the cogs in my brain turning non-stop.

When I was a kid, my parents used to think that I had sleeping problems because I could never get a proper night's rest. But then the doctor's said I just overthought stuff alot, so it never came up again.

I walk into the living room, reaching for the remote as I turn the TV on. Luke automatically lays on one side of the sofa, his arm out.

"Come here, princess."

I flick between the channels restlessly, before finally landing on a re-run of Spongebob and plopping down next to Luke.

I feel his hand go to the nape of my neck, before planting a soft kiss on my skin.

"Baby," he murmurs. "Go to sleep."

"But I wanna watch Spongebob."

"You can watch Spongebob in the morning," he chuckles, lifting his head slightly to look at me. "You've had a long day."

"So have you." I say, looking back at him. "I loved today."

"So did I, babygirl."

"I wish we could have days like this all the time."

"Me too."

"Luke?" I say, turning back around to face the TV. Spongebob's singing some song about a sweater and I surpress a laugh.

"Yes, little girl?"

"Are we ever gonna get married?"

I hear him pause at my question, but I'm far too awake to care.

"I hope so," he says, and I'm happy when I hear no reluctance in his voice. "I really, really hope so."

"Do you think mom and dad will ever find out about us?"
