Chapter 3 – Friends?

Dear Ashley,

You look so down today

I wish there was something I could do

Maybe if I wasn't so afraid I could give you a hug

A hug can heal almost any wound

You've lost your friends

You've lost your hope

Maybe one day you'll know who I am

Until then I just ask that you hang on

Stay strong and don't lose hope

A life without hope isn't a life at all

- Yours Truly

The letter was true, but it didn't make her smile like she hoped it would. She needed something to make her day brighter.

After talking to her history teacher, Mrs. Howard, everything went downhill from there.

She had refused to work with Scott, but she claimed that there wasn't anything she could do about it.

Ashley had informed her that if she couldn't have a different group then she wouldn't be doing the project.

Mrs. Howard had just frowned. She didn't say anything else so Ashley decided to leave and get ready for her next class.

School was now over and she had no idea where she was going to go. She felt dead tired because she didn't get any sleep the night before. Instead she had spent the time walking around town wondering why she couldn't remember her past, and what she was going to do about Scott.

"Ashley please..." Scott was a few feet to her right with Julian standing beside him looking as if he'd rather be anywhere but where he was.

"Hey Julian, it’s nice to see you again."

His left brow rose but he didn't say anything.

"Would you mind telling Scott that if he wants to do the project we can do it tonight?"

Scott smiled, but she ignored him, making the smile fade away.

"Ashley, stop being a little girl and talk to Scott yourself. He can hear everything you say to me and it’s just annoying having to talk to you. So go talk to him."

He turned to walk away, but she knew just the thing to make him talk.

"Unless you want us meeting up at your apartment then tell Scott we'll go to his place."

Julian turned back and glared at her.

She knew she wasn't supposed to know about his apartment, and Scott had probably hoped she wouldn't say anything, but she was playing with the cards she was dealt. She just had to wait for the right time to play the winning card.

"How do you know about that?" His jaw was clenched and she saw the anger in his eyes.

She finally looked at Scott, placing the blame on him.

She saw his face turn white as Julian slowly turned to look at him. "I'll do some research on Ares and meet you two at your place at five. That should give you enough time to get over this childish fight between you two." He turned and started walking away. He looked over his shoulder. "Oh, and go pick up the poster board we're going to need."

After running to the store Scott drove them to his house. She was surprised to see that he lived in a mansion, but she wouldn't let her surprise show. She wouldn't give him that satisfaction.
