geraldo is a gecko
he lives beneath the fridge
he comes out when it's quiet
basks on sunny ridge
geraldo likes the insects
that move between the plants
he licks his lips and swallows -
mouth waters, check his stance!
geraldo sometimes meets me
our paths cross now and then
i catch my breath and move on
his heart calms down again
geraldo loves his home,
i'm glad he lives near me
he feels very safe there
