Lindsey started to calm down, I still held her in my arms. The police said they were doing an investigation to try and find the body.
The body of my daughter.
Bandit shuffles in the sheets and flutters her eyes open. She looks at me and a wide smile stretches across her face.
"Good morning daddy!" She beams, sitting up.
"Good morning sweet heart." I say, kissing her forehead.
"I'm going to say hi to Peyton. I feel so sad because the last time I saw her we weren't friends." Bandit frowns, standing up from bed.
"Bandit." I grab her attention.
"Peyton's not here."
"Well daddy, where is she then?" Bandit asks, lifting her shoulders up.
I look at Lindsey who's pressing her lips together. I furrow my eyebrows and turn to Bandit.
"Peyton passed away." I say, trying too not let tears fall from my eyes.
"No. You're lying." Bandit says, raising her eyebrows.
"I'm sorry honey. I'm not lying."
"Daddy!" She laughs before running to her room.
I look at Lindsey and sigh. Why didn't she believe me?
Bandit comes running to the room, holding a piece of paper. It was a drawing. I squinted my eyes, trying to see what was drawn.
"Here." Bandit hands me the drawing.
I look at it and see two stick figures holding hands. I show Lindsey, a confused expression falls on her face.
"What does this mean?" I ask Bandit.
"The night after you and Peyton went missing, Peyton came into my room. She said that she was okay and not to worry. She also told me to not tell you that she came by. We talked for a bit and she told me funny stories. When she left I drew this picture and laughed to myself. Mommy came into my room so I quickly hid it under me leg. See? She's alive." Bandit laughs as she sits on the bed.
"I remember. I came into her room because I heard her laughing." Lindsey says, staring at the floor.
"She's alive." I say in shock.
"Bandit, did she tell you where she was going?" I ask, still not processing anything.
"She said she was going to walk around town. I don't really know."
A tear manages to fall down my cheek. I pick up my phone and call the police. I tell them everything and they begin their new investigation.
I told Bandit that I was still alive. I think I did it because deep down, I want to be found. I kept trying to tell myself that I should go far way from here. But I still stayed in town, I walked back and forth. I still had a sandwich and two granola bars left. I didn't know what I was going to do after that. I only had five dollars. I didn't plan this very well obviously.
I'm walking, staring at the ground when I feel a tap on the shoulder. I turn my head to see Frank Iero.
"Oh my god." I say, wide-eyed.
"Hi! You're Gerard's daughter right?"
"Y-yes." I say, internally screaming.
"Cool! I wanted to meet you." He smiles.
We chat for a few minutes then I realize he doesn't know. He doesn't know I'm supposed to be dead.
"Well...I should get going. I don't want Gerard to be worried. I'll tell him to invite you over soon." I lie.
"Sure, bye Peyton." He cheerfully says, walking away.
I nervously hold my phone, waiting for any calls from the police.
I immediately pick up my phone.
"Hello?" I eagerly ask.
"Hey Gerard. It's Frank, I just saw Peyton. We chatted for awhile and she seems real nice. Your family should definitely stop by my place soon."
"Where did you see her?" I practicality yell.
"Near the lake I think?" Frank's states, confused.
I end the call and run downstairs and through the front door. I drive past the speed limit until I reach the closet lake.
I get out of the car and walk around. She's no where. I walk until it's dark, my legs throbbing in pain. I see a silhouette sitting on a dock near the lake.
"Peyton!" I yell, not expecting it to actually be here.
The silhouette turns their head.
"Oh no." They say, loud enough for me to hear.
That voice was Peyton.
