There is a charm about the forbidden that makes unspeakably desirable.
– Mark Twain
Four walls, slate roof - a place where I grew up.
My precious childhood memories, all was just ephemeral and for a moment, I wish I could go back to when everything was just simple and peacefully calm.
A chateau, with thirty-eight rooms in a modest vernacular style, surrounded by gardens with a moat, six fountains, ancient aqueducts, a pond and with a classic designed chapel.
A vineyard, with grape-bearing vines, olive grove, a plantation of coffee beans, surrounded by woodlands of evergreen and stone pine.
One thousand acres to be exact - A palace, where I live now and by looking at the wholeness of the estate, somewhere in the middle, I'm just a plain dot, struck by the smothering darkness of my past decisions.
"With this ring, I give you my heart.
I promise from this day forward that I'll support you in whatever you choose to do.
I promise not to caused you pain, to remind you everyday how much I care about you.
I vow to fiercely love you and that I will never let you walk alone. From this day forward, may my heart be your home."
I distinctly remember that special day. The day when he treat me as fragile as a flower. The day when he share his vows in front of our loved ones and he almost made me believe that I'm the luckiest woman for having a guy who could pour his heart out with his undying love for me. That special day that I regret to exist.
I was charmed by his empty words.
"I promise from this day forward that I'll support you in whatever you choose to do."
"Jade where are you going?"
"Hon I just have a quick meeting with Mrs. Cortez. You know her right? She was the one who designed my wedding gown. Her secretary called and she offered me a job since they decided to do a fashion show for this year's summer collection, and I'm one of the lucky designers who got in on their short list. Can you believe that hon? My dreams are finally coming into reality!"
"No! You're not going anywhere."
"But hon I'll just be quick I ---"
"I said no Jade, end of discussion."
"What's wrong with you hon? Last week you didn't let me have dinner with my mom. I missed her birthday because you said you're not feeling well so I stayed home. Yesterday you didn't let me go out either and now you're doing the same. Tell me, what's wrong? Are you sick?"
"Nothing's wrong Jade. You're already a married woman and as my wife, you're bound to stay at home. I should be the one providing your needs. I have enough wealth to give you all you want. So tell Mrs. Cortez that you will decline the offer. Tell her you didn't want the job."
"I promise not to caused you pain, to remind you everyday how much I care about you."
