You rubbed your baby bump as you walked up the drive way. You ordered some new fairy lights for the living room and Gerald told you he would put them up before you got home.
You've been looking forward to seeing the lights on when you got home all day. You walked in the front door and set your purse down, looking around the room. Your smile quickly faded when you saw the lights above the couch and they weren't on. You stood by the door as your heart broke.
"Hey babe, I put the lights up." Gerald said walking into the room and motioning over to the couch.
"But you didn't turn them on." You sigh. You could hear the disappointment in your voice.
"Don't be sad, it's okay. We can just turn the lights on now." He laughed.
"It's not the same, Gerald. You don't understand. I've been waiting all day to come home and see the pretty lights. The thrill is gone." You sigh as you felt a tear fall down your cheek.
"" Gerald said walking over to you and wrapping his arms around you. You cried into his shoulder for a moment as you both rocked back and forth. "You could walk back outside and I can turn them on before you walk back in."
You looked up and at him and nodded before wiping your eyes and going back outside. You stood on the front porch and counted to ten before walking back inside. Your face lit up with joy as you saw the lights twinkle above the couch.
"It's so pretty." You smiled walking over to the love-seat and sitting down. "Being pregnant makes me so emotional." You sighed.
"I know, baby. But it's all worth it." Gerald smiled sitting beside you and rubbing your tummy.
