"Hey, where is everybody?" I ask, walking into Joe's house. "Eddie and Iris are stuck in traffic and Cisco can't come, Joe got an emergency call down at the station and Felicity and Oliver's plane was delayed." Barry responds from the couch.
Why didn't Iris and Barry ride together?
Maybe, they are going through a rough patch in their relationship?
"You can sit down you know." Barry points out, sitting up from the couch, staring at me.
I take off my coat slowly, facing the other way, trying to stall.
It still feels awkward being around Barry and I don't like it.
I hang my coat up and the hanger and set my bag down and walk towards Barry who is on the couch.
I sit next to him and stare straight ahead of me, wondering what to say.
Should I start a conversation? Should I wait for him to start it?
"I'm so hungry." Barry randomly blurts out.
"Me too." I reply. Whew, at least now we are talking about something.
"If you ever need somebody to come and eat your food, I'm there." Barry murmurs suddenly.
I laugh. "I'll remember that." I say looking at him. "Good." He replies smiling.
I guess it's not so awkward after all.
We both hear a click at the door and turn our heads.
There in the foyer stands the rest of the party, soaking wet.
Of course Barry and I start laughing.
But apparently we are the only ones who found it funny.
