We went into their room.
"Hey Katie," I said softly. Henry came in with a bowl, and gave it to Katie. She smiled, and then doubled over to the opposite side of the bed, violently puking.
"Maybe you guys should-"
"-leave the room for now. I'm not feeling all that-"
"-hot. Alex, thanks for coming, though. It means a lot to me."
I pitifully smiled at her and went into my room. I threw my phone on the bed and lie on my back, staring at the ceiling.
My phone started blaring Rob's ringtone, and I saw he was FaceTiming me. I answered and saw Rob lying on the bed.
"Hi babe!" I said.
"Hey. I miss you. Where are you?" he asked.
"Katie and Henry's," I said. "What's up?"
"Well, the guys are over, and we kinda need help making Mac'n'Cheese."
I started laughing. Facepalm much?!
"Babe, who's there with you?" I asked, still laughing.
"Um, Tom, Julian, and Danny. Why? Did I do something wrong?" he asked, and he looked like a little kid with his eyebrows raised, and his mouth making a little 'o'. I shook my head.
"Just get them in there," I said, laughing.
"GUYS!" Rob yelled. I saw a shirtless Tom, a shirtless Danny, and a shirtless Julian.
"HI!" all three guys yelled. Danny shoved Tom out of the way, and Tom fell.
"Ok, so let me get this straight," I began. "Tom, you have two sons and a daughter. Right?" Tom nodded. "Danny, Julian, single Pringles?"
"Well technically no," Julian said.
"Jules?" I asked.
"You haven't met Nikki. She's the best. It's a long story. But anyway," he shook his head.
"Anyway, none of you, not one of you, knows how to make Mac'n'Cheese?"
All four guys shook their heads. I rolled my eyes.
"It's a good thing you're all pretty, and good at football," I muttered. "The directions are on the box!"
"Oh!" all of them yelled. "THANKS ALEX!"
The three guys went into the kitchen, and I heard water running.
"So how's Holmes Chapel?" Rob asked. I shrugged.
"It's ok. It's not home...but hey. I miss you, you know."
"I miss you too. Good news, I can play again on Sunday," he said. I nodded.
"Good!" I exclaimed. Then there was a knock at my door. In walked Henry. He saw me kinda glare at him, and he said quickly:
"Oh, I can come back!"
"Rob," I said into the phone, "this is Henry!" I showed Rob Henry and he waved.
"Hullo!" Henry said. "Alex, it's time for dinner. Come out when you're ready."
"Ok babe, I'll text you later. I love you," I said.
"I love you too," he replied.
"Don't burn down the building, and enjoy your Mac'n'Cheese!" I exclaimed as he hung up. Before the screen went black, I said a smile light up on his face.
I love you Rob, I thought to myself.
I just kinda sat in my room, when there was a knock on the door.
"C'mon in," I called. In walked my reluctant ex-boyfriend.
"Zack," I choked out.
"Alex," Zack greeted, nodding curtly.
"Uh, sit," I said, motioning to the bedside. He reluctantly sat.
"Uh, I came to see Katie, but when I saw she was sick, I figured that I'd come and talk to you."
"What do you want to talk about?" I asked, my temper even.
"Well first off, why you haven't torn my head off yet," he said unhumorously.
"Because I realized I wasn't mad at you," I stated simply.
"Who were you mad at then?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I was mad at myself. For being...blind, I guess. I talked to Tess, and she made me realize that it wasn't you at all; I was mad at me. And I was just sending my aggression towards you."
He looked deep in thought for a moment.
"Alex...I love you," Zack said softly. I shook my head.
"No," I said. "No. Zack, I don't feel that way. I used to. I really did."
"Let me guess, Rob? You love him now?" Zack asked bitterly.
"No!" I cried fiercely. "I've always loved him, whether you knew it or not. Whether I knew it or not. I love Rob. He's my everything. If you can't accept that...well I'm sorry, but that's not my problem."
"Will anything change your mind?" he asked softly.
"No," I replied icily.
"Nothing," I confirmed. He looked at me with sad brown eyes.
No, don't look at the eyes. Don't do it, I told myself.
"Goodbye Alex. I'll come back later," he said, angrily or sadly (I couldn't really tell), then leaving. I sat on my bed, bewildered. What had just happened?
"ARE YOU COMING FOR DINNER?" Henry called again.
"No!" I yelled. I decided to take a shower. I locked the bathroom door, and went in. I undressed and let the warm water run over my body.
Mr. and Mrs. Harrison's divorce.
Zack's uncanny appearances.
I let the hot water run over my skin as I washed my hair. I washed my body and turned off the knob. I got out and started to dry myself off. I threw on my robe and went through the door connecting my room to the bathroom. I had my head down, and I walked into something.
Damn wall, I thought.
I looked up and saw Zack.
"OH MY GOSH!" I yelled. My first reaction was to cover up, even though I was wearing my robe.
"I should've done this when I had the chance," he murmured, and he brought his lips down to mine.
I pushed him off me, and slapped him across the face.
"Does that change your mind?" he asked, looking deeply into my eyes.
"NO!" I yelled. "I don't love you. Please, just...act as of I never existed." My voice faltered.
"But then I'd be acting as if my whole world didn't exist," Zack said quietly. I shook my head.
"Get out," I said, pointing to the door. "Now."
He left without a word, but he looked me over, and I flipped him off. I slammed my door and collapsed on the bed.
