Vega POV:

Being who I am...waiting in the middle of the police station with my face buried in my hands waiting for news of Wulf was not easy.

But I couldn't just run off and leave him there. not when that vulnerable side of Wulf I only ever really got glimpses at showed himself to me. Not when he looked at me like that, like he was begging me to just stay and forgive him. Not when he looked scared.

I have never seen Beowulf look afraid and i never want to see that again.

If he was afraid then there must be a problem.

I don't think he believes that I'll stay. So I just can't leave I can't put more doubt in his head if he walks through the station and doesn't see me.

I toyed nervously with the key around my neck.

"..Pretty necklace Vega."

I slowly met Chief O'conner's eyes, whispering out a soft, "thank you."

"..did he.." He gestured to the room Wulf currently was, "..give that to you?"

I gripped the key harder, nodding as tears sprung to my eyes.

The Chief pulled up a chair, "Vega...how long has this been going on."

"A few months technically. I know its not long but..but I do love him."

He sighed, "he needs help Vega."

I bit my lip, "look..I know Wulf is a little off but he's not bad."

The room was silent, they were not even trying to hide the fact that the were all listening in on our conversation. The chief left out a breath, "Well I know your father wont be having any of it, so why don't you tell my why you feel the way you do about him, help me understand this because frankly it doesn't seem like you."

I nodded, immediately deciding to leave out all of wulfs...criminal actions and the fact that it started as a sex only thing. "We met shortly after I moved to town..I hadn't known who he was at first but he did annoy me..then well Wulf decided to be Wulf. He's a cocky smart ass but he knows how to be charming. he's smart and artistic and..no one makes me laugh like he does." I smiled slightly, "he's childish at times whining like a little kid to get his way but he's protective and rational when he needs to be. He refused to give up until he had me firmly planted by his side and it was sort of flattering that he would bend over backwards to catch my attention. He's there for me, I can always come to him when I'm upset, he drops everything just to be there for me." In looked up at the Chief with wide eyes, "Will this ruin his ability to go study abroad? Wulf got into some of the best schools in the world and he really wants to go."

the chief rose a brow, "that smart huh?"

I nodded, "he always wants to learn something new."

"Do you think he would be willing to take a deal? to help us catch a bigger fish than him."

I didnt bother telling him my suspicions about Wulf being the more dangerous one, "if he says no to you I doubt he would to me...and I doubt he would say no in general...But.." I smiled weakly, "if he said he didnt do anything..."

"Thats bull and you know it Vega."

I shrugged, "I'm not saying a word."

With another sigh he shook his head, "and you swear he's not that bad?"

"just a bit misguided. like you said he needs help."

Nodding Chief O'conner went to call the DA.

I looked down at my hands wondering if I should speak my thoughts or not.

In the end I decided it wouldn't hurt, "Chief.."

He looked over at me, "hm?"

"He's gonna say no if it takes me from him."

The mans lips formed a thin line, "I had figured he might."

Its not a might. I know Wulf. Unless he's told he can return to using me as his personal teddy bear, he's not taking any sort of deal. He would be a dead man the moment he stepped into a prison, especially if he snitched.

that much was obvious to everyone.
