chapter 2 /
"GLIMPSE OF LOVE"

september 3, 2016;

it didn't take much for me to be occupied. listening to music and sketching random passerby's was my way of losing focus on the world and tuning in on the rhythm of the beats and drawing whoever my eyes laid upon.

i hummed along to the song whilst sketching a group of girls and boys having a lively conversation by the bench in the field. they all had some sort of sports uniform on. the uniforms differentiated from one another. from the colour of the pants and skirts to the logos.

my mind was so lost in thought, i had almost finished sketching the whole scenario. i eyed them casually. as i am already, being creepy cannot be added to the list of things people call me.

a few of the girls quickly lifted up their shorts higher than necessary to their waists without having the boys notice. they started to get clingy and extend their exaggerated laughs towards the boys' jokes. i scoffed in reply to the heinous act in front of me.

please tell me you guys have something better to do. i thought to myself while shuffling through my playlist. took me a lot longer than i anticipated to find a song to suit my forever changing mood.

this was my break time so i didn't have to worry about getting to class or anything similar for that matter. so slumping against the rough wooden bench while lazily sketching people was calming somehow.

the weather was perfect for this kind of leisure activity for me. the sun brightly setting the day as subtle cool breeze occasionally pass by.

i lost focus on the group and looked around for a second attempt to sketch something better. for a couple of seconds i froze on the spot because you were there. you were chasing your friends around the field smiling ear to ear.

in the most cliche way, my heart skipped a beat. you looked so happy as you continued to laugh and run after your friends all around the field. it was the most beautiful thing i had ever seen.

how the sunlight beamed on your tan skin. how your shirt stuck to you because you were sweating so much from running. how the tips of your hair were damp revealing parts of your forehead. even your eyebrows were showing through them. your perfectly shaped eyebrows.

my thoughts left me in a trance and i hadn't realized that you running towards me because a friend of yours suddenly decided to hide behind the tree next to the bench. the bench that i'm currently sitting on.

i snapped out of my trance since you were about half a meter away from me. you stood in a model like pose so effortlessly as you tried to persuade your friend to stop hiding.

there was no need for me to spare more than one glance in your direction to realize how much better you looked up close. you placed your hands on your hip in a motherly fashion to scold your friend. i couldn't help but smile at the behaviour.

"jimin! let's go already i won't beat you", those words left your mouth as you playfully smiled looking at your friend.

"i don't believe you taehyung!" you friend jimin who still hides behind the tree whines. he would shuffle around each side of the tree to find a way to escape from you. i couldn't help but stare at the show that resides right beside me.

it was hard to not notice your friend. with his strong hue of orange hair, he'd be noticeable anywhere. all of a sudden he leaped a big step away from the tree towards the field. that caught you off guard and you had a startling expression on your face.

the course of action didn't fail to surprise me. i held onto my uniform near my heart tightly in response due to the elevated heart beats i was facing.

immediately after, you chased him with a big grin visible on your face. i felt the sudden urge to stop you. to grab you by the hand and pour my feelings out. to explain to you how you make me feel, how the world stops when you show up out of nowhere, how your smile can make my day, how your kindness makes me smile. just about everything that i feel for you.

i couldn't do it. despite the sudden urge to do so. i watched you sprint away into the distance. a heave of sigh left my mouth as i observed my surrounding.

a small smile crept its way to my face as i look down on my notebook. only to find a sketch of you standing in front of the tree in the corner of the page.
