Chapter Ten
Alexei took a deep breath and checked his watch for the umpteenth time. An hour had only passed since Jewel had left his side and yet it had felt more than that.
He felt anxious.
No, anxiety had nothing to do with the scenes playing in his head. He was worried for Jewel. He could only imagine her feeling apprehensive finally meeting her grandparents.
He could only hope that Anzhela could build the bridge between Gavriil, Maxim, and Jewel. Knowing the old woman, she would move heaven and earth to protect her only granddaughter.
"Hey, take a chill pill." Anne nudge his side and reassured him with a smile. "Relax. She's going to be fine. Knowing Jewel, she'll knock their socks off."
He took a deep breath. "Knowing your husband, he'll do his best to intimidate her."
"It is what he do best." Anne chuckled softly. "But rest assured, Jewel won't be bullied by him. That girl got a backbone of steel. Trust her a little, won't you sugar?" She smiled widely and winked.
He shook his head and laughed. "That's not only what she has. She also have a generous and caring heart."
Anne could not help but roll her eyes at his statement. "Spoken like a true lover." She sighed happily. "You definitely are one love-sick puppy."
"Never thought I would see the day where a Great Man become fatuous."
Alexei looked at the owner of the voice and raised a brow. He looked at the dark-haired man with strong physique. His shoulder-length hair was clipped in a ponytail. He was a few inch shorter but his built was much larger than his.
"Here I thought you were merely a statue. How are you faring, Leonid?" He inclined his head to the side. "Did Gavriil mention anything about my request?"
Leo shook his head. "Nyet. Was it important?"
Alexei sighed. "Never mind, I may drop by your gym one of these days. I need to work out some muscles."
Anne rolled her eyes. "Thanks so much guys. There is definitely too much testosterone in this room."
Both men chuckled at Anne's protest.
"Just imagine if our other siblings came by. I am sure there would be pandemonium." Leo teased and sat down on one of the couches.
"Tell me about it, I could just imagine the ruckus in this house." Anne grumbled and sat beside Leo. "Brings back old memories though. Anyway, where are the others?"
"Vlad had to attend to another matter. Atryom is currently in Russia." Alexei answered and checked his watch again.
"And our little black sheep? Will she be coming?" Little crinkles formed in Anne's beautiful face. Disappointment clearly showing in her features.
Alexei shrugged his shoulders, while Leo merely kept silent.
Anne sighed. "That little spoiled brat."
Suddenly the door burst opened revealing a familiar raven-haired female. She was wearing a black-dress that hugged her feminine curves. She had paired it with a red silk scarf with matching red stilettos.
