"I'm gone gut him if he try it." I said, showing him my blade. "Aminata, you can't do that. They'd kill you first, and if not we gone have to be ready to run. We ain't there yet." He said, and I raised my brows. "So you want me to let him rape me, and take my virginity?!" I yelled, and he put his head down.
"I ain't know you wasn't touched, but still is you ready to let them kill you for it?" He asked and I nodded. "I was gone kill myself first anyway." "You was gone do that before he took it. I'm sure a whole lot worse gone happen to you if you do any harm to that man." He said and I shook my head.
"I don't care. I ain't going without a fight." I told him, and he shook his head. "Aminata, you ain't thinking straight." He said, and I scoffed. "You ain't never had no man want to be inside you bad as his next breath. A man who'd do anything to try it too, course I can't think straight!" I yelled frustrated, and covered up in my bed.
I felt the angry tears coming out, and balled up. "Aminata, I can't tell you it's gone be alright, cause like you said I don't know. But if you do that, it's a chance you might never get free." He said, and I rolled over facing away from him. He sighed, but didn't say nothing else, and I was trying to stop crying.
After awhile I heard the cabin door open. "Where, Mina at?" I heard Ma Dear and I peeked from under my covers. She looked at me and sighed before shaking her head. "He won't let you out," she said and I went back under my blanket. "That's okay, I'm gone kill him dead, before he touch me." I said, and I heard her sharp breath.
"What you talking bout, Mina?" "She got a little knife, say she gone stab him up." Marceil told her, and I nodded, agreeing. "You can't do that! You gone be in a lot more trouble doing something like that." She said and I shook my head. "I don't care, Ma Dear." I told her.
"You stab him up they gone hurt you, who knows how bad. Right now it's just Master Jean that want to hurt you, next it be Corin, Mister Tom and all the men in Orleans Parish." She said and I cringed. "You should have just let me go. We wouldn't even be talking bout none of this. I'm gone die either way." I said and she pulled the cover off my head.
"I know how smart you is. You can't let them win, it's all in your mind baby. You can't let them kill you or your spirit. That's what you gone let him do." She said and I shook my head. "That's what he doing Ma Dear. Every time I think of that man, I get to feeling sick and weak. My spirit already dying." I said, sighing.
"You can't let them kill you baby. What I'm gone do round here without you? You keep me going, Mina." She said, starting to cry. "What I'm supposed to do, Ma Dear?" I asked her, feeling my own return. "Anything, but hurt that man." She said, and I shook my head. There was a knock on the cabin door, and I turned to see, Marceil had got up to open it.
"Master Jean told me to bring this to, Mina." I heard Reina's voice mumble. He opened the door all the way, and she came in. "Bring what?" I asked sitting up, and she shook her head. "He gave me this jasmine soap for you, and he say he want you to serve him in this." She said passing me the folded up stuff in her hand.
I looked at it, then at Ma Dear. He gave me one of them cotton night dresses, Mistress Sophia be wearing. It was thin, and I knew at any kind of wetness and it was gone be see through. I couldn't do nothing, but breakdown crying, knowing he was really gonna to hurt me. "I'm so sorry, Mina." Reina said coming around and hugging me.
"When dinner is?" Ma Dear asked Reina. "Bout half an hour." She answered. "Alright, you go back to the house, and I'm gone get, Mina together." She said, and I shook my head crying harder. Reina, sighed, and I felt her hug me again before she left out. "You gone have to stop that crying, it ain't gone change nothing." Ma Dear said, and I shook my head.
