Just wanted to say this chapter wasn't my best at all honestly haha but i hope you enjoy it :) Also, if you could leave a comment or like it would be awesome because I'm pretty sure there's only one person reading this, and it's me :P Have an amazing day!
The restaurant was half crowded when they arrived, and that made Riley feel slightly uncomfortable. When she was younger, she hadn't had a problem being surrounded by so many people, but as she had grown older, she'd developed this eerie feeling about being around unknown people.
This was quite ironic, seeing as she was a waitress and had to deal with strangers constantly; all she knew was that it made her feel weird, almost as if she was being continuously judged.
''You okay, Riles?'' she heard Maya ask, causing her to tilt her head up.
She smiled softly, at both her and a blinking Auggie, who looked at her in confusion and concern. ''yeah, it's just, you know, I don't like being around other people''
''But there's not a lot of people here'' Auggie remarked, turning to look at the small crowds of folks scattered throughout the restaurant.
Riley gulped, shrugging her shoulders. ''I know''
She turned to look at Charlie, who had been waiting near the counter for their food, and sighed in relief once he began making his way towards them with a large tray containing their orders.
He set it down, smirking at the eagerness on their faces. ''Glad to see you guys missed me''
''shut it, Gardner, and give us the dang food'' Maya said, with her all too playful tone.
He rose his hands up in defeat, as Auggie hid a laugh, before beginning to hand some to her. ''Here's your food, Hart. A double cheeseburger, French fries and a large sprite''
''Yum'' Maya murmured, biting her lower lip as she stared down at her food hungrily.
Riley chuckled, as Charlie went back to sorting through the food. ''For my bud, I have his cheeseburger with no pickles, some French fries and a strawberry shake''
Auggie, who sat beside Riley on the sitting booth, jumped up in excitement as he grabbed ahold of his food and shoved a French fry into his mouth.
''And for my lady'' Charlie smiled down at her, handing her the food she'd ordered. ''A double cheeseburger, French fries and your favorite, a chocolate shake''
Riley grinned, watching as he took a seat next to Maya and across from her. ''Thanks, Charlie. How'd you remember it was my favorite''
''He was obsessed with you all through seventh and eighth grade''Maya said, in between bites. ''Obviously Cheese Soufflé here is going to remember''
