sorry I don't know much about how percussion competitions work.

I take a deep breath.
"Okay guys, ready to kill this show?"
We all nod uneasily. I feel my hands shaking. I'm in percussion and have been before, but this competition is different. I'm not just part of the team, I have a leading part. An important part to be exact. I feel my phone buzz within my pocket. It's Mario.
Wish I could be there for you! You'll kill this performance. If you get nervous just imagine I'm the only one in the crowd.
Thanks, Mario. I'll try.
Mario is my best friend. His mom is a family friend. We talked briefly one in my trip to Florida. After, we exchanged numbers and become close friends. I sorta admit that I like Mario, but I know he has other friends and probably has a crush on someone in Florida. I'm okay with being his best friend, though. He keeps me close and cares.
"Ready, Justine?"
"Hopefully."
"You're on!" A tall, stage manager like person shouts. We ready ourselves and set up. Our performance goes smoothly. I did everything perfectly. Easy.
You aced it. I knew it. I'm proud of you.
I smile, happy that I made Mario happy.
Wait, how did Mario know I aced it? He's in Florida. He can't be here. My mind spins. I'm glad we performed before he said that because if not, I would have messed up every note. I feel a few congratulatory pats on my back. Suddenly, I hear the speaker go on.
"Mrs. Justine. Please report on stage."
I look around, confused. No one seems to have an answer so I collect my thoughts and head on stage. I'm blinded by lights and screams.
"Mario!" I scream. What is he doing here? Mario smiles at me; my heart starts fluttering, "What are you doing here?"
"I-I came-"
He stops mid-sentence.
"Yes?"
"I-" He shakes his head. I'm about to ask again, but suddenly, his lips lightly touch mine. I smile. My lips tingle at impact. I've wanted to do this for so long, but I never had the chance or courage to. Now that we have, all I can see is sparks. Everything feels right. Wait, Mario can't just kiss me randomly. I pull away, confused.
"I-I was wondering if you wanted to be my girlfriend?"
"Mario," I breathe out, not sure whether to be excited or nervous. He smiles uneasily, "Of course I'll be you're girlfriend."
Mario's eyes widen. Then, he tackles me with huge bear hug. I smile and snuggle my face into him.
"Finally," He whispers into my ear.
