How To Love P. III

"What in the world do you mean?" I clenched my jaw and awkwardly dropped my hands by my side. "W– Why in the hell do you need to stay away from me?"

I was confused. No, not even confused. It was way more confusing than just 'confused'.

Sam sighed before saying, "Begin this school year I promised myself to stay away from girls. Focus on my senior year. Get my diploma. But then you came in the fucking picture and ruined my entire plan." He chuckled.

He has never showed any affection or liking towards me. I didn't even know he existed until this school year. How and why would he have a crush on me? "But we barely–"

"Know each other?" He finished for me. "You don't have to tell me that twice. I kept telling myself that it was just... affection for your looks, you know."

Affection for my looks?

"But it wasn't. It really, really wasn't." I could tell he wanted to say more, but he was stopping himself from spilling too much.

An awkward silence fell between us and I harshly swallowed. What am I suppose to say? "Then what was it?" I decided to ask.

He looked at me again, but with a grin. A smile that could light up anyone's world. It wasn't a smirk. It was a genuine smile.

"A stupid high school crush." He answered. I laughed out loud and he softly chuckled with me.

"A stupid high school crush." I softly repeated, rather to myself than him.

I saw Sam nod from the corner of my eye. He glanced at me for a while. When I turned to face him he looked away.

I chuckled and bit my lip. "So, uh. That's why I basically ignored you. Stupid, I know. But that at this matter. Uh... Do you–" Before Sam could finish his sentence the bell rang and within a matter of seconds the hallways were filled with hungry teenagers.

He wanted to say something pretty important since he was annoyed right away. I chuckled and pursed my lips.

After the hallways were a little less filled, he continued talking. At least he tried to. "So, what I wanted to ask–"

"Sam, hey man!" Jack Johnson bro-hugged Sam and I softly laughed.

"Sup, yeah. I'm a little busy." Sam told Jack while glaring at him for interrupting his question.

"Oh, yeah right." Jack gave me a smug smile and walked off again.

"So before I get interrupted again I just wanted to ask if you'd like to go to the... movies with me? Like, tonight?" Sam rushed while looking real nervous.

I nodded crazily and a huge grin formed on his beautiful face. "Really?" He asked, making sure he got the message.

"Yeah. I'd love to." I smiled at him.

"Thank God." He breathed out of relief. I stupidly giggled at his cuteness.

I felt like such a girl.

"So, uh... I'll text you." He softly smiled.

"With what number?" I smirked. We didn't even have each other's numbers.

"With the number you're going to give me now." He shot back while having a lazy smirk on his face.

I laughed and shook my head. "This is going to be interesting." I murmured.

"You have no idea, baby girl."
