Oh Not So Typical

~ Chapter 10 ~

Now this is weird. Like super weird.

You know those very rare occasions where you actually come to school happy like actually in a good mood? That was me right now. I'm not sure if I was happy because nobody was home when I woke up this morning or if it was because of Chase, but I just knew that I was genuinely happy.

"Good morning to my favorite best friends in the whole wide world." I hugged Sophie, Marianna, and Eli individually and they all looked at me like I was growing two heads.

Sophie laughed and when Sophie laughs, it basically sounds like someone coughing badly. "Everything about that whole sentence was wrong."

"Yeah. For instance, we're your only best friends because you nearly scowl at anybody who tries to talk to you." Elijah said with one eyebrow raised.

That was very true. I do scowl at everyone who tries to talk to me, but honestly it's just a habit. Maybe I need to try simmering down the happy weird shit.

"I don't get it. I'm nice for nearly 2 seconds and y'all are already jockin' me." I rolled my eyes and hip bumped Marianna out of my way so that I can reach my locker.

Marianna placed the back of her hand on my forehead. "Are you okay? Are you sick? Maybe she's dying guys." I smacked her hand away while Soph and Elijah snickered.

"You know what? Forget y'all. That's why I'm not going to tell you what happened last night or take y'all out to dinner after school." I instantly turned around to face my locker and to hide the blush on my brown colored cheeks.

"Who was it?" They all said in unison.

"Chase." I muttered and I got three different reactions from each of them. Sophie was overly excited, Marianna was relieved, and Elijah was about as mad as an old substitute preparing to teach a badass class. "What the hell is wrong with you Eli?" I asked him curiously.

He shrugged. "Nothing." He walked away with a group of people on them team and a few groupies prancing right behind them.

"I don't know what's stuck in his ass, but details." Marianna tells me as we link arms to go to class. I fill them in on everything that happened yesterday and I got annoyed quickly every time Sophie kept saying "awh."

Deep down, I knew why Elijah was upset with me. When Marianna and Sophie kept encouraging me to talk to Chase before I even met him, Elijah was the only one telling me no. He knew Chase was bad people and only fucked with girls for quickies only to forget who they are the next day.

Elijah was and still is looking out for me.

"Sophie if you don't shut up." Marianna warned her and playfully pushed her away. "Anyway when are you guys gonna hook up?"

I chuckled. "Never."

And that was a promise.

After school, I decided to take Marianna and Sophie to Rita's Diner since I haven't seen her in a couple of days. Meanwhile, Eli was still pissed at me and I haven't heard from him all day.

"Hey Rita." I greeted her with a smile. Her petite frame wrapped her arms around me and kissed my cheek.

"Awh it's my baby. How are you sweetheart?" I sat down next to Marianna and Rita smiled at them. "Is that my Phie Phie and Anna?" She gasped and hugged them.

"Hey Rita." Sophie and Marianna said in unison. "We're okay, but most importantly how are you Rita?" I asked, quite concerned. She had bags under her eyes and her hair was in a messy ponytail.
