CHRIS POV
It's been a minute since I've seen or heard from Sabti. I know I'm not supposed to be with another man's wife, but I can't control myself. I tried to call her three days ago, but she wouldn't pick up. It wasn't until I turned on the news that I realized why.Anchorwoman: "Good Morning, California! I'm Lois Goodfield here at what used to be the home of Jodeci founder and leader DeVante Swing. The 41-year-old producer arrived home from a recording session to discover that his 8.88 million dollar mansion was burned down to the ground by his wife, Sabti Zuniga-DeGrate. She was found in a nearby field passed out and suffering from a deviated septum. Authorities transferred her to a nearby hospital where she made a bedside confession to burning down their home. She is being charged with first degree arson, destruction of property, and disturbing the peace. Zuniga will be arraigned in court next Tuesday. Swing says that despite this event, he has no plans to divorce his wife."
I couldn't believe it! Sabti is such a well-rounded, and beautiful spirit I could only imagine what hell DeVante had been putting her through to make her do what she did. I stopped by the Astro Lounge and saw her friends Tenese and Ocelean looking upset, probably fretting over Sabti's arrest. I exhaled and walked up to them.
Me: Excuse me, are you friends of Sabti Zuniga?
They looked at me with smug faces like they knew what was up between us.
Tenese: Yeah, we are. If you're looking for her, we're on our way to get her from jail. If you wanna come with us, you can. Otherwise you can find her in the Sundstrand neighborhood at those little apartment complexes.
Ocelean: We know about you, Christopher!
Me: What do you mean?
Tenese: We know you're smashing our homegirl, Sabti. The second she looked at you the day we had lunch here, we knew ya'll were more than friends and NO, she didn't tell us. I would normally rip into you for this, but this is the happiest she's been in like YEARS!
Ocelean: Speak for yourself, T. I think you're absolutely despicable for breaking up a marriage!
Me: Her marriage was already broken up!
Ocelean: Are you proud of yourself?
Me: Of course not!
Ocelean: You don't seem too sorry that you're taking a wife away from her husband!
Me: I can't take what was already gone!
I shook my head and walked away before Ocelean got me any more fucking heated. Fuck she know anyways!? Ole dry lonely ass.
ONE MONTH LATER...........
I left the studio early to drive to the Sundstrand neighborhood. I have to see Sabti. Feel her, touch her, love her, and let her know I'm never gonna let her go. I drove through 11 different apartment complexes before I finally found Sabti's place. I slid through the front door behind an elderly lady (after helping her with her groceries) and knocked on apartment number 527. I knocked on the door and Sabti angrily opened the door and had a look of shock on her face.
Sabti: Hell nah....
She tried to close the door back and I blocked it.
Me: Do you really wanna do this?
She groaned aloud and let me inside.....
Sabti: How did you find me!?
Me: I'm a man.
Sabti: So was Bill, but the Bride still killed him.
Me: What happened?
Sabti: He said I was worthless, that I couldn't be stupid enough to cheat on him, that I should have died of alcohol poisoning, and that couldn't leave him if I tried! One minute he backhanded me, the next minute I lit up our house like Jamaica.
I laughed when she said that part, but quickly stopped once I realized how badly this was hurting her.
Sabti: ...maybe he was right.
I laid her down on the couch and looked her deep in the eyes.
Sabti: Don't cheer me up, I don't want to be told any more lies.
Me: You aren't stupid. You are the most beautiful woman I've ever met and I want you to always know that I'll never let you down. I can't let you go! I know that it's wrong being with another man's wife, but I can't help myself when it comes to you! I'm in love with you and I can't stop myself!
A tear rolled down her face and I licked it away, kissing her passionately, taking in her scent and loving the moment. I knew this was wrong, but I have the power to make it right...and that's what I was doing at the moment.
