I think a whole thirty seconds passed before anyone made even a sound. When we did, it was just stuttering, and noises to fill the silence before someone could think of something to say to Harry.
My mind was spinning, trying to think of something to tell him.
"Uhhhh..." I say along with the other ad-libs of stutters.
"Guys?" Harry asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Uh..." Liam says a little too loud. "Niall... Broke your lamp...?"
His Lamp? I think to myself.
"My lamp?" Harry asks.
"Uh..." Liam says again. "Yeah..."
"I'll show you," I say before thinking.
My feet are soon carrying me upstairs and into Harry's room. I look around for his lamp. I see one on his bedside table. Running over to it, I stop suddenly to think of what I can do to it, quickly. I see a pair of scissors on Harry's desk. I grab it and quickly slash tear in the lampshade. Satisfied with my job done, I pull the chord from the wall and carry the lamp downstairs, running.
Louis and Liam look relieved when I finally appear.
"See," Liam says, gesturing to the lamp in my hands.
"Sorry mate," I say trying to act sad and regretful. "I didn't want to tell you like this."
"Niall, don't be so hard of yourself," Harry tells me, calmly. I mentally let out a sigh of relief, thanking God that he actually wasn't mad at that. "You make it sound like you're breaking up with me."
"Sorry," I apologize once again. "I thought you'd be mad."
"It's not like I can't buy a new lamp shade," Harry says, like its the most obvious thing in the world. "It's OK."
Harry starts walking in the other direction, leaving Liam, Louis and I alone.
Once he's out of earshot, I turn to Liam.
"I'm gonna freaking kill you!" I scream, while running to tackle him.
Louis runs in to stop me from jumping on top of Liam, yelling "Woah! Niall! Calm your arse!"
"Do you know how much trouble I could've been in?!?!" I scream, looking directly at Liam.
"Sorry!" Liam says, holding his arms up in surrender.
"Louis, let me go," I struggle in Louis' grasp as he attempts to hold me back. "I need to strangle this dumbass."
"You need to calm down," Louis says. "You can't kill Liam today. Or ever."
"Why not?" I growl.
"Because... Um..." Louis looks as though he struggles to come up with a reason for me not to kill Liam, which is fine by me.
Liam has a horrified look on his face.
"Oh! I got it!" Louis says, while Liam lets out a breath of relief. "You can't kill Liam because if we ever want the band back together, he needs to be alive."
"It can be a trio," I say, eyes still fixed on Liam.
"Louis!" Liam almost screams. "Calm him down!"
"Niall!" Louis says to me. "Liam is sorry for almost getting your arse in trouble with Harry. Aren't you, Liam?"
Liam nods furiously.
"See?" Louis gestures towards Liam. "So can you forgive Liam?"
I relax the tension in my body.
