SABTI POV
Whoever got through to DeVante about paying more attention to me, I thank them. If only....if only he had been a little faster. I don't want to give up on my marriage, but I don't want to give up my creeping with Chris. DeVante signed us up for marriage counseling and it was working....at first. Within two months, we were fighting and avoiding each other all over again. I haven't seen or spoken to Chris in about three months since we argued about DeVante popping up on us at the restaurant. He thought I was dogging him for smashing and leaving. But what does he expect!? I'm married, he knew it when we were together.
I was at home, once again arguing with DeVante about the state of our marriage.
Me: I'm so tired of this! If I make your life so stressful, I'll leave!
DeVante: You couldn't leave me if you tried, Sabti. Where would you go?
Me: Anywhere but here.
DeVante: Do you know who I am?
Me: I know who you were!
DeVante: You know what? I can't fucking stand you, you bitch! I made you! If it wasn't for me, you'd be dead from alcohol poisoning right now, bitch!
I threw my hands up in the air and tried to walk off, but he grabbed me, shook me and I pushed him away. I tried to leave again and he grabbed me, backhanding me with his ring on. I fell to the ground and he stomped so hard on my back I thought it had broken. I lied there, bruised and bloodied.
Although my hair was covered in my face, I could still manage to see DeVante stomping to the front door and leaving out of it. I slowly got up, looked in the mirror and saw this bloody gash across my face and a piece of diamond in my nose. That's it! I've had it, had it, HAD IT!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll show this nigga what's up. I found some matches and lighter fluid and ran upstairs to the master bathroom. I grabbed every last tennis shoe, Versace suit, Rolex watch and dumped it in the tub. I sprinkled fluid on all of it, and lit the match...dropping it in the tub. BURN MOTHERFUCKA, BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!
I stepped back when I realized that the clothes weren't the only things burning. For some reason, the fire had spread all over the bedroom. I tried putting it out, but it didn't work. I ran out of the house with flames following me every second. I reached the front door, slamming it behind me and running as fast as I could out from the scene and passed out in some field after two hours of running.
I was out for the moment, but I could only imagine the trouble I'd be in when I woke up.
