I kissed his head.
"I'll call you, ok?"
He nodded and I went back down to level C.
I told Katie and Tom I was going out, and Tom thought it would be just a freaking brilliant idea if he, Rob and I carpooled. Yup. Great. We drove to Gillette, and I had passed out on Rob. When I got to the stadium itself, I waltzed inside. Mainly because the security knew me. I was about to walk in when something dawned on me. Rob. I called Tom.
"Keep him away from the stadium itself," I hissed. He obeyed orders. I went inside, and found a press conference set up. I saw Bill, and he motioned for me to sit down. We were about to start when someone came up to me.
"If you create drama, we'll pay you," he said in a hushed tone. Who the fuck is this dude?
"Yeah," I said sarcastically. Then it was time to start.
"Will Rob make a recovery?" one person asked. Bill nodded.
"He's fine," he reassured them. There were many questions, but only one stood out.
"Ms. Stone, how are you taking the breakup?"
"What breakup?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.
"Yours and Rob's," the reporter said in a 'duh' tone.
"We didn't break up," I said, puzzled.
"Well your source is mistaken," I interjected. "We are still dating."
Finally, it was the last question. Or so I thought.
"Alex, can you tell us some things about Rob that we may not know?" a lady asked. I shrugged.
"Eight facts you didn't know about Rob Gronkowski. Hmmm.
He's great with kids.
He's a lot more intelligent than people give him credit for.
He's a great kisser.
He hates it when I play with his hair.
If it's an away game, he'll always call and tell me he loves me.
He lets me wear his jersey.
He's completely dedicated to whatever he does, whether it's football or not.
He bit Tom Brady.
There. Eight facts you didn't know," I smiled. I was free! Free at last.
"One more question," Bill said. I shot him a death glare.
"This is for both of you, but mainly Alex. What do you think of Rob's partying habits?" The guy who tried to bribe me earlier nodded.
"No comment," Bill said, and he looked to me, and I could tell he wanted me to do the same. I took a deep breath and kinda smiled.
"Someone tried to bribe me earlier to say nasty rumors about my boyfriend. Create a little...drama." I leaned back in my chair a bit. "But I'm obviously not gonna do that. I'm going to tell you all exactly what I think." I paused. "I trust him 100%, and I think that Rob can do as he pleases. He's an adult, I'm an adult, and we're both responsible adults. I also think it's none of your business." The reporters murmured amongst themselves.
"Take it or leave it, but that's the answer I'm giving." I turned to Bill. He nodded. I got up and with that statement, I left. I hated the flashing cameras and the clicking. Ugh it was so annoying! I texted Tom to meet me outside the stadium. I waited for a couple minutes playing Subway Surfers on my phone, until the two of them came in sight.
I greeted Rob with a huge hug.
"Hi Rob," I said.
"Hey," he replied, looking at the ground.
"So...what do you guys was to do?" I asked.
"I kinda need to talk to you Alex," Rob said quietly. I gave him a puzzled look.
"About what?" I asked.
"I just need to talk to you!" he burst out.
"Ok!" I replied, shocked at his sudden aggression. "Tom, could we get into the locker room, do you think?"
"It's worth a shot."
Tom called Bill and we met him outside the stadium where we were.
Bill looked grumpy and showed absolutely no emotion, as usual.
"Can we go in the locker room?" I pleaded.
He let us. After the three of us had dodged all the reporters, we finally made it to the locker room, unscathed. Tom let us be, and I looked quizzically at Rob.
"What's so important that we had to drag ourselves in here?" I asked.
"I-I keep having these dreams," Rob said quietly.
"And...?" I replied.
"I don't know what they are. You and me kissing. A-A wedding and three girls. One dream was about this guy. He looked like a teammate...81, I think his number was. I'm just really confused," he admitted. My eyes widened with shock.
"Rob, those aren't dreams!" I exclaimed. "They're memories!"
"Who's 81?" he asked. "Your face kinda fell when I mentioned him."
"WAS!" Tom shouted from somewhere.
"Was," I continued, "Aaron."
"Hernandez," Rob said, and his head shot up.
"You guys were pretty close. But a couple of months ago...." My voice trailed off.
"What happened?" Rob asked. "I remember being friends and all, but nothing else."
"Well," I started, "in August, I think, Aaron got thrown off the team. He was accused of murder, and eventually found guilty."
"Odin Lloyd," Rob replied quietly. I nodded. "So anyway, what was the wedding about? Are we married?!"
"No dumbass!" I laughed even harder. "It was my cousin Sam's wedding."
"Then what's that ring on your finger?" Rob peered curiously at my hand. I looked down and saw the promise ring that Zack had given me. I immediately ripped it off and threw it on the ground.
"Nothing," I shook my head and brought my foot down angrily on the ring. I then picked it up and flung it across the room.
"So anyway," Rob said, shaking his head, "wanna head to Toby Keith's?"
I nodded, and Tom shouted from the other room,
"I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO SUGGEST THAT FOR THE PAST TEN MINUTES!"
I laughed and we exited the locker room into the stadium.
