God Squad and Porn Stars

I went to Williby Private Institute.  Which was a really asshole way of saying I went to the rich kid private school.  It was supposedly a Christian school, though the values have somehow plummeted from when it was first built to when I started attending it.  In fact, only a few things kept to tradition: one, the ugly uniforms we had to wear that made cameos in many pornos throughout the world.  And two, the fact that there were a select group of students dedicating themselves to God and annoying the fuck out of me.

Rupi and I called them the God Squad after their previous nickname, “The Apostles”, got pretty old.  The technical name for them were Prefects -- students chosen by the administrators to spread the word of Christ around school and make sure none of us were up to something.  However, since it’s been deemed by Dean Bradley that like my older sister, I was in a continuous state of mischief, the God Squad seemed to hover me despite my many attempts to shake them off.

“Good morning, Chess,” Liza Pool greeted me as I walked through the doors.  Rupi had left my house early in order to save me a seat in AP Latin class, which was our zero period.  “How was your morning?”

“Go away,” I retorted shortly, hitching my bookbag up as I passed her.  Liza had somehow risen through the ranks of the God Squad and secured the privilege of being Chess McAvery’s Stalker.  Few students had zero periods, since the only classes available at the time were AP classes, and I knew from snooping around the Dean’s desk that Liza didn’t have AP classes.  She just came early to check up on me.  How sweet.

Liza was right on my heels.  Latin was on the third floor, which meant I got to enjoy her lovely presence for about five more minutes.  “You could be a lot nicer, Chess.  Seriously.  I mean, I’m the one reporting to Dean Bradley…”

“Want to know something fascinating, Liza?” I asked cheerfully, jumping up the stairs two at a time.

“Are you going to tell me to fuck off?”

    “Well, yeah.”

Liza sighed and shook her head, but kept following me.  I started up the second flight of steps.  “Dean Bradley only wishes the best for you, Chess.  This school is aimed at making girls into proper young women and so far, you have only showed resistance.”  She was panting from trying to keep up with me.  Liza reminded me of a really ugly pug.  Not the cute ones dressed up in costumes.  The kind that sit next to your ear and wheeze snot on your face while you sleep.

“Do you have to be somewhere?  Like maybe go in a corner and pray to God?” I asked, annoyed.  We were finally on the fourth floor.  I was speed walking now, the class at the end of the long, locker-lined hallway.

I could tell she was frowning behind me.  “You’re really rude.  For no good reason.”

“Maybe I’ll be nice if you stop following me.”  I flipped around to smile at her.  The classroom door was right next to us, and I placed my hand on the knob.  Liza flinched as soon as she saw me grin.  “Because being stalked by the God Squad gets old really fucking fast.  How about you find some witch to burn while I’m in class, yeah?”

Before she could argue, I opened the door and went inside.  There were only twenty desks, most of them filled.  I spotted Rupi in the middle of the room, the desk next to her saved by her backpack.  I went to go sit down, sighing loudly.

    “How’s Liza?” Rupi teased.

    “She’s a doll,” I replied sarcastically.

Damen Holt turned around in his seat.  If there was a member of the God Squad I’d ever come close to liking, it’d probably be him.  Sometimes he was a complete ass, of course, but he’s never ratted me out to Dean Bradley.  Yet.  “You are all she talks about,” he informed me casually, balancing his pencil on his knuckles.  “We go to the Prefect meetings and Liza updates us on everything you do.”
