Chapter 16
For one second his lips were on me, arms around me. Then the next he was across the room, back against the wall, wide eye.
"I-I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that I-" I stopped him by throwing a pillow at him.
"Shut up!" I hissed, "Do you want to wake everyone up?"
"Ashy?"
Aw crap.
I ran to Cassie, "Its okay. Go back to bed."
She looked at Lucifer, "Twavis?"
I turned around to see Lucifer kneeling down. How does she know him? She never saw him!
"Get up and come over here!" I half whispered, half yelled.
He got up and went to Cassie, "This really is her huh?"
I nodded, "Cassie do magic trick."
Her eyes became wide, "But it's a no no."
"I know. Please for me?" I gave her the puppy eyes.
She nodded. She put her palm up and a small flame appeared. Then it disappeared. Lucifer's eyes were wide. He looked at me.
"Do you know what this means?" he asked with a smile forming.
"I don't know." I mumbled. I very well know that Cassie will be taken away from me and gets to live the life that we all want. Royalty.
Lucifer was about to speak when I heard footsteps coming.
"Hide!" I squeaked.
Lucifer dived right under my bed. I picked up Cassie and sat on my bed cradling her.
There was a knock on my door then Mark came in, "Is everything alright? I heard noises and they were coming from here."
I nodded, "Yeah everything is alright. Cassie had a bad dream that's all. Thanks for checking in on me Mark."
He smiled, "Welcome. Good night."
"Night night." Cassie whispered.
He closed the door. After I heard his footsteps fade away I sighed and said all clear. Lucifer crawled out.
Ashy being cute as she is said, "Are you going to make out with Twavis." I need to make sure that Cassie does not watch tv.
Me and Lucifer blushed. "Well ah..." I was stalling.
"Me and Ashy aren't together." Lucifer said coolly. Damn him, how can he do that?
She pointed her little finger at him (I knew what was coming next, due to personal experience.) "Wiar. Wiar wiar pants on -"
"Don't say fire. What happened last time?" I asked. About a week ago I told Cassie that I ate all the cookies. She got made and made my pants on fire. Thank God that Mark or Shirley was there (that and I wasn't burned!)
She stopped and looked at me, "Sawwy. But why did you kiss him?"
"Ah uh ah hmm." That was all me and Lucifer said.
She gave her 'really?' look. I smiled and gave a small laugh.
Lucifer became really tense. His face became hard and unreadable.
"Is something the matter Luci- uh Travis?" I asked.
"We need to go now." He said grabbing me and pulling me to the window.
His grip was iron tight and it was hurting me. Not only that but his seriousness was scaring me also.
"You're hurting me." I whimpered.
He let go of me and turned around. His eyes were going straight through me. "Please just trust me."
"What's going on?" I asked.
He sighed, "This will take awhile."
"I have all night." I said calmly.
I walked to my bed and sat down. I positioned Cassie into a more comfortable, and then patted the spot next to me. He sat down and sighed.
"Look your parents aren't human. They're wicked people. Your mom is a hag."
"I'm offended. Shirley isn't a hag."
"Not that idiot. She's a disease causing hag. She's making herself appear human. She's very deadly." He said.
"And Mark?" I asked.
"He's a lighting spirit. Anyway we need you out of here now!" he got up again.
"If we leave now..." I couldn't finish, I looked at the sleeping Cassie.
"Look I'll have someone get you in the morning." He climbed out the window.
I looked out to see him gone. I closed the window and went back to bed. The clock said it was four thirty. Wow time went by fast!
I tried to sleep but I couldn't. Life is getting the best of me! I hate this! I looked at Cassie. I'll do this for her.
After awhile I got up and took a shower. To wake me up. I went downstairs to see Shirley and Mark eating waffles. I grabbed one and ate it.
"So Cassie had a bad dream huh?" Shirley asked.
"Huh? Oh yeah. She made a huge fuss about it. I just cradled her till she fell back asleep." I said between bites.
"I heard talking. Are you sure it was only you two?"
I couldn't process what she said. "Of course how could someone climb a two story window?"
She was about to talk but the door bell rang. Thank God.
"I'll get it!" I jumped out of my seat and ran to the door. I opened it to see Janet.
"Are you ready?" she asked.
"Um what do you mean?" I asked clearly confused.
She laughed, "The park silly! Remember we're going to take Cassie to the new park."
Then it clicked. This was the person who Lucifer said would pick me up. I smiled and nodded.
"Hey Shirley I'm gonna go to the park with Cassie kay?" I said running upstairs. I saw Cassie dressed in a skort (skirt/shorts) and a tee that had a turtle on it.
"How'd you dress yourself?" I asked.
"Magic?" she shrugged.
I just ignored that fact that she was dressed and took her downstairs. I was almost to the door when Shirley stopped me.
"Who's this?" she asked.
"Mary ma'am." Janet said.
"Hmm okay well here take this." She handed me a small back pack probably filled with diapers and what not. I took it and was almost out when I was stopped by Mark.
"Here, she hasn't eaten yet." He gave me a poptart.
"Thanks." I took it and finally went outside.
