Jason's pov

I pace back and forth this close to freaking out! I can't lose her! I just can't! I won't be able to survive. "What do we do Jason?" He's holding Carter right now who keeps pulling at his ball cap. I take her back. "You will not grow up without your mother. I promise little one." I say, hugging her tight. I have to wait til she gets home.

*3 days later*

Thank God. I run out to meet her holding a fast asleep Carter. "So how was my babies?" "We're fine. Honey, be honest do you have breast cancer?" Her eyes go wide. "No. Why would you think that?" I show her the magazine. "Oh that. No. Steven's mom's been diagnosed and he was really freaked. I promised we would both help out in any way possible." I breathe a relieved sigh. "Thank God. Luke had me paranoid thinking it was you." "It's not me Jay. I'd tell you if that happened to me." I smile and hug her. She takes Carter. "Did Carter miss mommy?" She asks, hugging her. I smile and hug them both. Worried for nothing. Man and I tell her not to worry!

*the next day*

I was holding Carter on the couch when Steven walked through the door. He looked to be in a daze. Man poor guy. I don't know what I'd do if that happened to me. Miranda was in the kitchen fixing lunch. "It's getting hectic at home. Mind if I stay here?" I hear him ask. "Of course not. Like I said anything you need." She says. I wish there was something I could do. Well I could ask for the fans to pray for her. I do that over Instagram and walk in the kitchen. "Hey Steven. Ya wanna hold her?" He smiles and looks up from his hands. "Sure. Cute little kid. Beautiful blonde curls." I smile. "Don't know where she gets it from." I say, sitting down. Miranda bringns BLTs to the table. "Ya want one Steven?" "Sure. Thanks for everything." "Of course dude. You're family."

*3 years later*

A long hard fought battle to cancer. Miranda hugs Steven. I hate that she died. "She fought hard, a brave soul." Just like my brother. I think of my baby girl back home.

~flashback~

Todd shook my hand. I positioned the rifle a d we shot off the 21 gun salute for my little brother. "This shoulda been done four years ago." I hear Todd whisper. I agree wholeheartedly but I stay quiet. I hug my wife.

~flashback over~

I sang hell of an amen as her casket was being lowered in the ground. Then we went back home. "Mama! Daddy!" I heard my three year old yell! I smile, her long blonde hair bouncing on her shoulders. I pick her up. "Don't you ever grow up." I say, hugging her. She laughs. "I'm already three. Pretty soon I'll have my own muddin' truck." I smile gladly as tears hint at my eyes. Miranda's mom walks out of the kitchen. "Dinner's ready. Come on rugrat." We eat dinner and watch TV. Halfway through a show, Carter starts to doze off. I smile. "Ok little one it's time for bed." Miranda's mom says. Her mama's waiting to tuck her in as she fumbles up those steps. She smiles back at me dragging that teddy bear. "Sleep tight." I whisper. "Goodnight daddy." She says as Miranda's mom picks her up instead. She lays her head tiredly on her shoulder. "Goodnight baby girl. Daddy loves you so much." "I love you too." Then she's off to her room and I stare at the now blue screened TV. My life is complete.
