I woke up angry at the world the next day. After Janessa grounded me, I ran to my daddy's in-home office to ask him if she could do that and he told me that she could. It was a really awkward situation but I guess nonetheless should be expected from such a dysfunctional family. At school, I stood at my locker looking at my schedule that hung on the inside of the door with my headphones plugged in. Emone tapped me on the shoulder, "Girl what's goin' on? You and Mason had an argument?"
I shook my head no, "Girl not even. My dad let Janessa ground me for going to Mason's a couple nights ago." Emone stood back, "What the hell, yo?" She chuckled, "Type shit yo daddy on?" I sighed, "That's exactly what I'm wondering. In a way I'm glad because I didn't have to deal with Angela, but now I'm mad at Janessa. Why did she have to ground me?"
"Don't be like that," Emone told me while fluffing her curly fro, "You and Janessa will be all buddy buddy in a day or two." I shook my head, "She didn't budge when I told her about our audition." Emone slammed her locker shut turning toward me, "So are you saying what I think your saying?" I nodded, "Yup. There's no way I'm gonna be at those auditions next week unless a miracle happens to change Janessa's and my father's minds."
Emone and I walked slowly walked to our class and on the way, August decided to walk with us. I looked at the side of this boy's face. He always seemed to find a way to be around us, and I wanted to know why. What made him so... infatuated by us? As we reached our homeroom, I dug my cell phone out of my pocket to see a couple texts from Bae💕💯 a.k.a Mason.
I picked my head up as we entered the classroom and sighed while taking my seat near the back of the classroom and Emone sat next to me while August and some other guy Tevin sat in front of us. Whatever class Emone and I were in together we always had our table lit. Emone opened Snapchat and had us doing that damn dog filter. "Lemme see," August said as he reached for the phone and Emone showed him, "Damn... the one on the right is the cutest pup I ever seen."
We turned the phone around and Emone poked at my cheek, she could be so irritating when she wanted to. I sat up in my seat leaning on the desk, "Why does it seem like your always flirting?" I asked as I watched him sit up and lean on the desk too. He talked so low that no one else would hear, "I'm not sure I would call it flirting, I just think a pretty girl like yourself... deserves all the compliments in the world." I grinned as I sat back in my seat, "Thanks but this pretty girl's got a boyfriend."
August shook his head, "A boyfriend that doesn't seem like a very nice guy from what I've heard." I furrowed my brows as I took a slight gasp, "My boyfriend isn't any of your business," I said with a hint of attitude as August raised a brow, "Well I'm trynna make you my business, ma." He licked his bottom lip as I shook my head and continued talking to Emone for the rest of advisory.
