We eventually ended up on the beach. I called Isabella and Maria and they snapped up the chance to come, I didn't even have to turn around to know that it was them, their squealing gave them away.; In less than a second I was lying face down in the gritty sand with two bodies on top of me,

"Hey Isabella and Maria." I gently shoved them off me, they were both dressed appropriately for the beach, matching denim shorts with different coloured tops.

"We missed you so much! Our holiday was kind of boring; you know how grandmas can be!" she said sarcastically, I chuckled slightly as I remembered their grandma; she was the most eccentric 65 year old I knew.

"This is Mike-the beta and you already know Alex." I'd totally forgotten about Mike and Alex standing there,

"Mike these are my two best buddies, Isabella and Maria." After they'd exchanged hellos and how are yous Alex and Mike loped off to God are knows where, I wiggled my eyes suggestively at Alex as they disappeared into the forest and to my surprise he blushed!

"So where's Jay?" Isabella asked as we set up some towels a safe distance to the cold sea water,

"Oh, he's not in town." I looked down from their curious gazes, I was hoping they wouldn't ask that question but my friends always thought of everything,

"What do you mean? Has he gone on another meeting?" I sighed, it would probably be best if I came straight out with it.

"We're having a break. We just kept arguing over silly things so Jay said we should have a break and see how we feel after." Instantly I was embraced by two bodies and once again lying on the sand,

"We're sorry but I bet you it'll all work out." What would I do without my best friends? I abruptly stood up and began taking my shorts and t-shirt.

"Let's go swimming girls!" I grinned at them and then we all ran straight into the cold waves.

We came out 20 minutes later all wrinkled and wet, we returned to our spot and dried off. Mike and Alex were playing football with some other pack members, Isabella and Maria's mates were both there too.

"So how's it going with both your mates?" I looked back at the football game, I'd noticed every few seconds Alex would catch Mike's eyes.

"He's taking me out on a date tonight!" they both exclaimed at the same time,

"Where?"

"It's a surprise!" they both said at the same time, I laughed at their twin behaviour; I was amazed how their mates didn't get confused because sometimes they were freakishly the same.

"Let's go play some volleyball." The girls agreed quickly, the guy's football game had turned into a volleyball game. The girls and I were on the school volleyball team; so we knew we wouldn't have a problem playing against these boys. We walked towards Mike,

"Do you mind if we play?" I asked him,

"Sure, we could do with some extra players." I smiled at the girls and we got into position,

"Are you seriously going to let a bunch of girls play?" Carlos shouted. I rolled my eyes at him, I'd beaten him before and he seriously had the nerve to try and start another fight? The incident seemed like years ago, it was funny how much could happen in such a short time; I tried my best to ignore his "insults" and focus on the game. I guess my temper got the best of me because when I served, the ball went flying straight into his face.

"You bitch! You broke my fucking nose!" scarlet blood was running down his topless chest in heavy streams.

"Served you right." I said with a shrug, his temper got the best of him too because he ran up to me and tried to punch me but I used his momentum against him and flipped him face first into the sand, I bent his arm back and lowered my lips to his ear,

"I've beaten you before, what makes you think you're going to win this time?" most of the boys seemed to hear that because they all laughed, Alex came over and gently pulled me away from him.

"Nice job, where did you learn how to fight like that?" he mused,

"Dad." He gave a small nod in realisation, several of the boys gave me high fives and told me well done, Carlos just stomped off angrily muttering about, and "how the bitch broke his nose."

"Pussy!" I called after him; he glared at me before stomping off again,

"No round two Carlos?" I called again, this time he stopped and charged at me. This time I simply stuck my leg out and he tripped again face planting into the sand. The whole beach chorused in laughter,

"You just don't learn, do you?" I pulled an innocent face at him before continuing with the game, playing volleyball with the other pack members really took my mind of all the drama that was going on; I really owed a thanks to the pack for making it fun for me. They obviously didn't know that Jay and I on a break, they just thought he was at pack meeting somewhere in the south, if only.

When the sun started to set someone got a bonfire started up, thank God because it was starting to get cold. We all huddled up on some logs around the fire, the warm embers of the fire seemed to fuel everyone's conversations but I tuned them out and just stared at the warm fire.

"Are you all right, Carmen?" Maria asked, I snapped out of my reverie and looked around. Alex was as usual chugging down the beer and a grimacing Mike was sat next to him-some things hadn't changed.

"Yeah-"

"Don't even try to lie, I've known you for ages and I know when there's something wrong. So spill." Maria had always been the more observant twin and the best listener, the truth was seeing all the mates around me reminded me of Jay and me at our best times, it kind of made me miss him.

"I miss Jay." I simply said, Maria wrapped her arms around me in a secure hug I immediately hugged her back and a few traitor tears slipped out of my eyes. I guess I missed him more than I thought.

"It will all be fine, he'll come back and you'll be together again." I tried to believe her words but it was hard,

"Maria it's time for our dates!" Isabella was literally jumping up and down on the spot in anticipation and excitement,

"Are you going to be alright?" I made a shooing motion with my hand,

"Yeah, sure. You girls have fun on your dates and I'll see you tomorrow at school where you can tell me every detail." I laughed with the girls and hugged them one last time both girls skipped off to their waiting mates.

I woke up in Jay's bedroom still in the same clothes from yesterday; I quickly went and took a shower preparing for a boring day at school, I almost ran downstairs my motorbike was out of the garage and being delivered today, I wrenched the front door open and there it was my red motorbike that I'd saved up for a year for. I closed the door and loped happily into the kitchen where Mike and Alex were drinking some coffee. I poured a cup for myself and sat down at a stool next to them,

"Good morning!" I beamed,

"Morning, why are you so happy?" Mike asked; Alex was slumped over the table like usual, he was so grumpy in the mornings. I rolled my eyes and turned to Mike,

"My bike got delivered today!" I couldn't wait to finally ride it after two long weeks without it,

"Not so loud Carmen." Alex hissed. I'd forgotten how much he drank last night. I smirked at Mike and put my finger up to my mouth; I crept up to Alex and screamed in his ear. He jumped out of his seat sending the bar stool skittering across the floor, he turned his angry glare towards me,

"CARMEN!" he growled. I grinned innocently before running out of the kitchen, grabbing my backpack, jacket and helmet. I roughly pulled the door open and got onto my bike, I'd just switched it on when he came sprinting out of the house with a murderous look in his eyes,

"See you at school Alex!" I slid the visor down on my helmet and sped out of the parking space.
