Namjoon - Loosen Up

"Namjoon," you whisper into the darkness. There's no answer.

You feel your way around the office. Something gets caught around your foot and you put your hands out in front of you before you can hit the ground. You hurriedly brush yourself off after kicking the unknown object to the side.

"Namjoon," you say a little louder.

No one replies, but you hear the familiar sound of someone typing away on a keyboard. You stumble blindly toward the sound. Once you hear it getting louder, you can see the faint glow of a computer screen. Namjoon's face is illuminated by the light. There's creases between his eyebrows as a result from his deep concentration.

"Didn't you hear me calling you?" You say softly while placing a hand on his shoulder. He continues to type. "It's almost one in the morning. You should be heading home."

"I will," his voice is strained. "Right after I send this email."

You grab a chair from the computer desk to the left of him and slide it next to him. Then you turn on the lamp on his desk. He cringes from the sudden brightness. You sit beside him.

"Who's the email for?" You rest your arm on his shoulder.

Namjoon pauses his typing for a second to answer. "Remember the record company I was telling you about?"

"The one that called you back about your mixtape?"

"Yeah. The CEO wants to meet me. I have to send in the answers to these questions first. It's like a mini bio thing. I've been working on them for days but I'm not sure if the answers are what they're looking for."

You give him a small smile. "Don't worry about what they're looking for. Do you."

He laughs. "I didn't give you permission to quote me."

"Like I need your permission." You bump your shoulder against his. "Let me see."

He hesitates for just a second before sliding his chair to the side. You read over the questions and his answers. Most of his answers seem too complicated, like he was trying to hard. You shake you head and delete everything.

"Yah!" He shouts. "Seriously?"

You stand up and kick your chair away from you. You drag Namjoon's chair back in front of the computer.

"Start again." You demand. "And this time, try to seem more realistic. You know, like an actual person."

"I thought my answers sounded professional." He mumbled.

"They did, but they also sounded too perfect. You have to put your personality into these answers. Otherwise, you'll just seem like everyone else."

Namjoon nods and gets to work. He pauses a few times to ask for your opinion on things.

"Okay," you say. "I think you can send it."

"Are you sure?"

You roll your eyes and click the send button.

"Alright, let's go."

Namjoon leads the way to the door. You lock it and slip the key into your pocket.

"Explain to me again how you managed to get such an important position?"

Both you and Namjoon worked for a record company. While you ended up getting a managing job, he got stuck with paperwork despite his attempts at trying to get a higher position.

"I don't know," you shrug. "Maybe it's my irresistible charm."

"Well that charm of yours must be a little defective," Namjoon responds. "Otherwise you would have gotten yourself a job at a better place."
