This was emotionally for me to write, and Justin Beiber’s song That Should Be Me didn’t help. THANKS, PANDORA! Seriously though, I felt so bad writing this. My heart hurt. Also, sorry about the length. I thought there was enough "bam, wham, boom!" in this chapter.

Celebrity Interview: Chapter Thirty-Three: The Aftermath

“Hey, hey, hey.” Niall said, wrapping his arm around my waist. “Keep your opinion to yourself.”

I looked up at him, surprised. I hadn’t heard of him doing this before, and I’d heard of these moments happening from my fans on Twitter.

She snorted. “You’re obviously blind to how ugly she is.”

My eyes widened. I was still in shock that people said these things.

Louis, keeping an eye on all of us, made his way over to the door and opened it slowly. There were screams from the few fans that were still out there and he grabbed a security guard’s coat, pulling him into the room before shutting the door soundlessly behind him. The rampaging teenager, thankfully, didn’t notice because she was too busy ranting.

“I don’t even know why you’re in the band in the first place. I mean, you can’t even sing. No one likes you!”

I looked into Niall’s eyes to see water fill his eyes at the sound of the hateful comments coming from her.

Immediately after seeing what was going on, the security guard Louis had taken from outside and the one already stationed in the corner of the room, rushed forward as she stepped closer to us. I put my hand over Niall’s, which was still situated on my hip. He looked down at me and I wiped away the tear that was starting to escape his eye.

“See? You’re a coward too. Can’t even stand up for yourself and your ugly girlfriend. You’d rather just cry about it.”

Before she could say anything more, she was grabbed by the shoulders by the security guards and escorted out.

After that, it was safe to say that everyone’s mood was dampened but we tried to all smile for the few fans that were still waiting for their picture. There were only seven or so more, so it didn’t take long to finish up and after that we all walked silently to the car. Before we got into the car, though, everyone was forced a group hug from Louis.

The silence was deafening as we all sat down, and when the car stopped at the bus, Harry was about to say something when he took one look at Niall’s face and slowly backed off, his eyes full of pain.

“Are youalright?”

Before I could even consider my answer, I burst out. “No, I’m not! Who in their right mind would say something like that? You can’t take back what comes out of your mouth! And that was just hurtful, to say the least!”

Niall turned to me and wrapped his arms around me. “Please don’t tell me you believed a word she said.” he practically begged.

I leaned my head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat as I replied. “Nah, I’m a firm believer that unless something is proven, it’s not true. And it hasn’t been proved that I’m ugly. So, until then, I won’t believe it.” I paused for a moment and considered something before answering. “You didn’t believe anything she said either, did you?”

He was silent.

I pushed out of his arms and turned my head to face him, looking him directly in his eyes. “Niall, don’t tell me you believed it.”

“What if I don’t-” his voice cracked and he started over again. “What if I don’t belong in the band? What if the boys’ voices really are better than mine and I should just be a guitar player?” His eyes filled with tears and I kissed his lips softly. “You are the best singer I know, just don’t tell the boys. You were put in the band for a reason, and that wasn’t to be a guitar player.”

He pressed his forehead against mine and closed his eyes, tears finally escaping. “What if what they say is true? I get so much crap, Ray.”

I placed my hand on his cheek. “And none of it is true. Do you know how many “to Niall” tweets I get saying that you’re an amazing singer and that without you there would be no One Direction?”

He sighed, defeated. “I know. I just can’t help but doubt myself.” His voice cracked again, and that’s when my heart did.

“I don’t know what else to tell you, babe. You’re amazing just the way you are.”

He sniffed and laughed. “Did you just make a Bruno Mars reference?”

I smiled slightly. “Yeah, I think I just did.”

“Thank you.” he said, cupping my cheek to kiss me softly.

I smiled into the kiss and when he pulled away, asked, “For what?”

“Making me feel better about myself.”

I put my arms around him in a tight hug. “You’re welcome, Ni.”

That was when I realized that I loved Niall Horan wholly and completely.
