"Melody!" She says to me as i walk through the door and smiles.
"Hi Miss Finley." I say and I sit down in one of the chairs.
"How are things going?" My guidance counselor asks me.
"Not too good, to be honest." I let out a sigh.
"Have you been eating?"
"No..." i mumble.
"Melody, honey, it's been a few weeks since the Halloween party. You need to maintain a healthy eating schedule."
"I just have this image of what I want to look like and I've tried so hard to achieve that, but it's not working." I shrug. "So far, my method has been working."
"There are always consequences. And your health is going to be affected."
"I feel fine."
"You may feel fine now, but later on you wont. Your head will hurt and you will have stomach pain. You may even get gastritis or something similar!" She says with a worried expression on her face. I don't respond and she sighs. "Have any of your friends noticed? Or your family?"
"Ivy and Jayden have started to notice it. Once, she tried forcing me to eat." I say, recalling the moment.
"Where is your lunch?" Ivy asks me and Jayden glances at me.
"I'm not hungry." I throw her the line I tell her everyday.
"Melody, you need to eat." Jayden says. "You've been dodging lunch for the last week. We're worried."
"You don't need to be worried." I say. "I'm fine."
"No, you're not." Ivy says bluntly. "People will begin to question it." She points to the other side of our lunch table.
"Then I'll handle it when the time comes. I'm not hungry and I have no money." I lie.
Are you kidding? I'M STARVING! I don't eat breakfast or lunch and I skip dinner by telling my mom that I have tests coming up. I'm so hungry but I don't want to eat. After I come home I eat a few snacks, but nothing more than that.
Ivy pulls out some food and sits next to me.
"Eat it." She orders.
I push the food away and she puts it in my hand.
"I'm not going to eat it. And I'm not going to waste your food." I say as my back up.
"Eat it, Melody. Seriously." Jayden's serious face scares me a bit.
"I don't want to eat it, so I'm not going to."
"We are doing this for your own good." Jayden says.
"You don't need to worry about me. Just drop it."
I get up from the table and leave the cafeteria. I can feel someone walking behind me and I start walking towards my locker. The person behind me grabs my wrist and turns me around. I see Reece in front of me and I look at the ground.
