Chapter 9

“Hey, you alright Arina?” he asked Choi. She gave a small smile in response. “If you need anything, I think Tye could get you it,” he mentioned, shooting me a look.

“Thank you,” she muttered quietly.

“Don’t mention it.” Ken said while flashing his trademark smile. He lingered awkwardly a while longer. Just as he began to close the door Ace walked by.

“Don’t do anything ‘weird’ to Arina when we aren’t looking,” Ace called out, making air quotes with his fingers. He began laughing at his oh-so-funny joke. Choi looked damn-straight confused. Sucking in my anger, I decided to ignore what he said after Ken shot me another damned look.

I stood up to leave after Ken. “Do you need anything?” I asked her at the doorway- remembering Bailey’s lecture on courtesy. Choi shook her head. I was tempted to say something else. I don’t know why, and I don’t even know what- I just wanted to say something before I went to crash on the couch. But what could I say? Nothing.

“Don’t mess with my stuff,” was all I could think of. I wanted to slap my face. Genius, perfect thing to say. Not like it was that important.

Choi shook her head. “I won’t.”
